"We need to find a safe place to sleep, Caleb."
"No we don't. They have probably already sent out a search party for us." Thinking about how I left things with my siblings, I highly doubt that.
"Although that is a nice thought, we need to be prepared for the worst. So lets go look." I get up to walk, but wince and fall backward. Why do I always get hurt? I feel so helpless it's not fair.
Caleb looks at me mockingly, and says, "WE can't go anywhere. And I'm not leaving YOU alone. We'll just have to set up camp here." I look around. Too many trees. We can't set up a fire for anyone to find us. I look up into the leaves of the trees and start to admire an old oak that looks to be a thousand years old. My eyes roam over the branches and make their way to the enormous nest of the tree. It's big enough for two, maybe three people to lay in. It would be perfect for a treehouse.
Lightbulb.
"Caleb, what if 'camp' was already set up. In a sense," I suggest, glancing up to the tree.
"What do you mean?" He questions.
"That tree is so huge. If we could climb up there, we'd be off the ground, and safe. And, if someone was coming for us, we'd be able to see much farther. What do you think?"
"I think we have a temporary camp," he laughed. "You know, when we get out of here, this will be an awesome story to tell at school."
"Our version will be a great story to tell. But within a day of us being back, the entire student body will have manipulated it into us trying to run away together or something like that."
"Yeah, probably," Caleb mutters.
We sit in silence for a few minutes, until the sun starts to set.

"Lottie just give me your hands and I'll pull you up," Caleb says. I'm standing on my good foot, looking up at Caleb who is already in the tree. I'm scared that my bad leg is going to bang against the tree as he's pulling me up.
"Ok, but only because I want to," I sass. I reluctantly put my hands in his and let him pull me up. As I had feared, my bad leg hits the tree, and a sharp pain shoots up my leg.
"Ow," I yell, wincing. Caleb has pulled me up in the tree, and I sit with my back against a branch.
"I'm sorry, are you okay?" He asks.
"No, I'm not okay," I pout.
I stare into his eyes, and try to figure out what he's thinking.
One moment, I'm staring up at him, and the next thing I know, he's kissing me, and my eyes are closed. I pull away first and look up at his confused expression.
"Now I am," I whisper, before I lean up and kiss his cheek.

A/N yay they finally kissed! Without any catastrophes interrupting. But don't worry, the catastrophes will come later. Stay tuned =]
