I slowly open my eyes, and see that Caleb is awake. I try not to move, hoping he won't notice I'm awake. I look over at him, and notice he's staring at me. Which is odd, considering that I was expecting him to wake me up and demand that I leave.
Deciding to get it over with, I sit up, and look at him. "Good, your awake." I whisper. "Is it you, or are you still confused?"
"Why'd you bring me here Charlie," Caleb asks, his voice hoarse, but genuine. Friendly, even.
"Well it was obvious you were sick, and I couldn't just let you die," I explain. "Now that you're awake, I guess I can go." I stand up to leave, but he stops me.
"Please don't." He whispers. I stop, taken aback by the vulnerability in his voice. I stare at him, an eyebrow raised, but sit back down.
"So, were you out in the rain yesterday or something?" I ask. He looks confused, so I clarify. "You had hypothermia. So, were you in the rain?"
"Yeah. I got locked out of my house." He answered, but his voice sounded unsure, untruthful.
"Why didn't you just knock? I'm sure you're parents would have opened the door for you. " I question, a sly smile on his face.
"You obviously don't know my parents," he chuckles.
"What do you mean?" I'm genuinely curious. I guess he is offended by my question, though, because his reply is cutting.
"Just leave. I don't want you here. Go." He says, anger apparent in his voice. I'm surprised by his change of mood, and a little hurt. I get up, and start to storm out the door.
"Charlie," he apologetically calls. I quickly whip my head towards him, staring daggers.
"It's Lottie," I fiercely reply, before storming out the door without even a glance back.

"I don't know why I expected him to be different. He was having a pleasant conversation with me, and then he just snapped." I'm talking to Tiff, but she isn't much help.
"Maybe his medicine wore off and he went back to being the evil jerk he was before," she offered.
"Maybe," I sigh. "I just thought, maybe he was different."
"Lottie, Caleb is never going to change." She's probably right, and I curse the tiny voice in the back of my head that wishes that she's wrong.
