Chapter 1: Caleb's POV

I'm up in my room, staring at the ceiling. Why is life so complicated?

I'm thinking about Charlie- I almost always am. Why am I such a jerk? Ugh.

I peek out my window, and see her heading out towards the trails with Luna.

I follow her- I can't let her go out there alone after what that cougar did to her. That was one of the scariest days of my life- I thought she might die. But she didn't.

I've been following her for about 10 minutes when her dog starts growling at me. Gee, thanks Luna.

"Hey Charlie," I say.

"It's Lottie, but you already knew that."

"Whatever Charlie," I chuckle.

"Why did you follow me out here, you stalker," she sneers. I don't blame her for hating me- I'd hate me too.

"What do you mean, I just wanted to go for a walk. Trying to find the best spots for when I go hunting," I retort. I always say I go hunting, to mess with her. But I don't. I could never hurt an animal. Except maybe that cougar.

"Whatever you say Caleb. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'd like to continue with my run," she laughs, a little uneasy.

"When hunting season comes around, you better keep that mutt locked up. He does look awfully similar to a deer, and we wouldn't want any accidents, would we," I retort, which really puts her on edge.

"Leave, or I'll let this 'mutt' off leash, and we wouldn't want any, 'accidents,' now would we?" She smirks. I almost say 'touché' but I don't.

"Bye Charlie," I laugh.

"It's Lottie."

I plan to walk home, but I look up into the sky and see an ominous black cloud. It's going to rain, hard.

I head back in the direction Charlie is going, as little rain drops fall from the sky.
---------
My clothes are drenched. Lottie know these woods by heart, I'm sure she's ok. I should go home.

But I hear a dog whining, and I walk towards the sound. I find Luna, totally freaked out and lost. Then I hear Charlie calling out for her dog.

Luna looks at me and growls, before running towards Charlie. She yells something, but I can't quite make it out, and I head home.

A/N I don't know which other chapter to write in his POV. Maybe I'll just do this one only. Thanks for reading.
