I slowly open my eyes to see why the cougar didn't kill me. The cougar is laying on me, dead. It has a bullet hole in its head. A helicopter is flying overhead. 'We're saved!' I think to myself.
I sit up, and push its dead body off of me. My heart stops when I turn my head towards Caleb.
His body is covered in blood and gashes, and I don't see any signs of life. I rush to his side, ignoring the pain of my injuries.
"Caleb, look at me..stay with me. Don't you die. Don't you dare die," I say, crying. His eyes flicker open, and he looks up at me.
"It's okay, Charlie. I'm okay," he says, his voice barely a whisper. I grab his head in my hands, and lean down, placing a kiss down on his lips.
"You will not die," I say. But I feel hands on my shoulders, pulling me away. I look around, noticing for the first time all the people around me. EMTs are everywhere, and police.
I fight as they pull me away, kicking and yelling. "Caleb! No you don't understand you have to let me go!"
EMT's surround him, feeling for a pulse. They exchange a solemn look, and stop trying CPR.
"You can't let him die!" I yell. In the commotion, I forget my injuries. But they catch up to me. I feel dizzy with loss of blood. Everything is blurry. And now, I'm falling...and it wouldn't be the worst thing if I never get back up.
A/N I know it's a short chapter, but hey, at least it's a chapter. Also, everything is not what it seems.
