THE ELEMELONS
_____________________I was frozen in place.
Unable to move.
I was literally so shocked that I could feel myself shaking. But Jasmine didn't think anything was wrong apparently, because she gave me sweet smile and walked over, extending her hand.
"Hi, I'm Jasmine. I've heard so much about you."
I forced a smile and shook her hand, saying, "Hi, I'm Claire."My mum hugged Becca and I, then she turned to Cade.
"Well, who is this young man?" She asked, smiling at him.
"I'm Cade." He smiled, sticking his hand out.
My mum smiled and shook his hand.
She didn't even have to ask who Cade was here with because Becca was holding onto his arm like her life depended on it.We helped them finish setting the table and everyone sat down.
Of course, I got stuck sitting beside Jasmine."So Claire, how's Starbucks?" Your mum asked, trying to start conversation.
Jasmine made a choking sound and covered her mouth. When she recomposed herself she asked, "You work at starbucks?"
I could see the laugh that she was trying her best to hold back and I glared at her. "Yes, yes I do. And it's great, although there is this extremely annoying costumer that always comes in. He's constantly messing with me."
Jasmine's ears perked up and she began listening when I mentioned a boy.
Of course.
I smirked and decided to have a little fun with this.
"Oh, a boy?" My mum asked, curiously.
"Yes. Although he is extremely cute. He has this blond hair that he styles up into a quiff and this amazing Australian accent. I think his name starts with an L..."Becca was oblivious to what I was doing, considering she doesn't know who Jasmine is.
So when I acted as if I didn't know Luke, she spoke up.
"You said that his name was Luke and you guys acted pretty friendly when you brought him to our apartment the other day."
Crap.
I didn't want that part to get out.
Although, Jasmine did look like she wanted to rip all of my eternal organs out so that's good.
"You invited him over and you barely know him?" My mum gasped.
I glared in Becca's direction and said, "It was for good reason."
"It best have been." She muttered.
I decided to change the subject before Becca spilled anything else that she shouldn't.
"So, Phil, tell me about yourself." I said, leaning my head on my hand.Phil began telling me stories of the places he has traveled over the years.
Apparently, he used to travel quite a lot. He's been to Australia, Ireland, all over England, some states in the U.S., Italy, and Russia.
His travel stories were quite interesting and I found myself listening to him talk for hours.By the time we joined everyone else in the living room, it was 9:00.
We are sat in the living room and chatted a bit, until I excused myself to go to the bathroom.
When I finished up in the bathroom, I walked out the door and was met with Jasmine, standing right in my face.
"You better back off of Luke or we're going to have major problems. Got it?" She spat, jabbing her finger to my shoulder.
I just laughed and walked right past her.
She grabbed my shoulder before I could get away and spin me around.
"I mean it." She glared. "If I see you, even talk to him. I will make both of your lives hell. And trust me, darling, I have the right information to ruin Luke's life. Forever. So if you care about him, even a little. I highly suggest that you stay away." And with that, she turned and made her way back down the stairs and to the living room.I stood there, frozen.
I didn't really faze me that she said she would ruin my life. She doesn't know me, so it would be hard for her.But I know that she knows Luke.
So, who do I know she's not telling the truth?
Maybe she truly can ruin his life.
If she can, I definitely don't want it to be my fault.
I was stuck, very confused, and even a little upset. My whole plan back fired right in my face.
