Mother: how are your grades this semester?
Me: mother what's important is that we have our health.
_____________________"Luke, I have to go to work today. I missed yesterday." I giggled.
"Oh, come on baby." He whined.
After Luke finished tickled me to death last night, we decided to go to bed.
Now he was currently begging me to stay home again.
"Luke, I have to go to work or I'll get fired." I laughed, attempting to stand up from the bed.
But, apparently Luke had other ideas because he grabbed my arm and pulled me back into bed with him.
"Please." He begged.
I giggled at his actions and said, "Luke, I'll be back before you know it."
"Fine." He pouted, "I'm picking you up, then."
"Okay." I smiled, kissing his cheek and standing from the bed.
I left after saying my final goodbye to him and him pouting a bit more. I had to run back to my apartment to change before proceeding to go to work.
As soon as I walked into work, Penny was right in front of me.
"Feelings better?" She chirped with a smile on her face.
I tried my best to smile back but my smile altered just a bit. "Yeah, I'm good."
As I began to walk over to the counter, Penny grabbed my arm.
"I know you skipped work for Luke yesterday." She lowered her voice.
My heart sped up and my eyes widened.
"Penny, I- I can explain-"
"It's okay." Penny laughed.
She really wasn't mad. She didn't even look mad.
"I'm just concerned about you is all." She gave me a small smile.
"What are you talking about?"
"Luke isn't good news, Claire. He really isn't."
"And you would know that...how?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Just trust me," She said, her face serious, "you should stay away from him."
And with that, she walked into the back and I didn't see her the rest of the day."Hey baby." Luke smirked as I stepped into his car after work.
"Drive, Hemmings." I huffed.
"What's got you in a mood? Was there an insufferable customer with extremely good looks and a sexy lip ring that rubbed you wrong way? Oh wait, that's me and I wasn't there today. Plus, I rub you all the right ways." Luke smirked and I slapped his arm, smiling a bit.
"Shut up." I laughed.
"Okay, for real, what's the matter?" He asked, eyes holding worry.
"Penny just said some things..."I sighed, trailing off.
"What kind of things?"
"She told me to stay away from you. Something about you being bad news." I said, looking over at him.
"She's doesn't even know me." He said with furrowed eyebrows.
"Yeah," I sighed, "I know."
"Wanna get dinner?" Luke asks.
"Yeah, let's do it."We pulled into a small diner and both stepped out of the car.
"This looks cozy." I laughed as we walked inside.
The building itself was small enough to be a house.
It looked old, but still like it has been taken care of.As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a smiling girl, probably around our age. And she was beautiful.
It would be impossible to deny that this girl is beautiful.
I looked over at Luke out of the corner of my eye and saw him staring at her.
Of course he's staring at her, she is beautiful.
Way more beautiful than me.
She showed us to our table and asked what we wanted to drink.
Of course she's our waitress too.
Super.
"Hi, I'm Danielle and I'll be your waitress today. What would you like to drink?" She asked, eyes lingering on a Luke a little too long.
"I'll have water." Luke said nonchalantly, failing to notice the smoldering look she was giving him.
"I'll have sweet tea." I sighed.
I tried my best to not let this girl get to me.
I couldn't let her get under my skin, it would probably just eg on her antics.
She wrote down our drink orders and sauntered away, obviously shaking her hips more than necessary.Luke and I just sat there in silence for while, mainly because I had no idea what to say after...that.
I'm just feeling a tad awkward...and maybe a bit jealous but I would never admit that. I don't want to be that one girlfriend who gets jealous over every little thing.
"Is something wrong?" Luke asks.
I stared to say no, that I was completely fine.
Truth is, that was a lie.
I didn't like the way that waitress looked at him but, I contemplated whether or not I should lie and say everything was fine.
Just as I was about to say no, so I wouldn't sound crazed or insanely jealous, my eyes drifted towards the front doors. The front doors that were opening to reveal the very last two people I wanted to see right now. Two people that I never in a million years would have thought would even know each other, much less socialize.
And suddenly, there was definitely something wrong.
