Jasmine and Pe- I mean Lizzy finally left after about an hour of conversation.
And it wasn't good conversation either."We need to get out of here." Luke said, followed by a groan, "I don't know if I can stand one more visit from Jasmine."
"That was the first time she even visited." I laughed softly as Luke flopped his long legs up on the bed and laid down.
"Yeah, one time too many." He groaned and I giggled, secretly happy that he hates her almost as much as I do."Well I agree, I can't stand it in here. I don't know who he thinks he is, keeping us prisoner in here." I grumbled, suddenly feeling angry.
He grunted in agreement as I laid down beside him and he pulled me into his chest.
We didn't speak another word after that because before I knew it, we had both fallen asleep.I woke up to a slight creek to my left. I slowly cracked one eye open and tried to see through the darkness around me but failed.
The noise was coming from the direction of the door, I know that much.
My heart started beating faster as the sound of boots clanking against the concrete reverberated through my ears.
I pulled myself closer into Luke's chest and hugged him tighter.
He stirred slightly at the contact, but stayed asleep nonetheless.
The steps got louder and louder until I saw a figure in he darkness.
The first thing I mot noticed was his galaxy colored hair and I let out a sigh of relief.
Michael stepped out from the shadows and after I registered the fact that he had just easily gotten in here; I started to get suspicious.
Michael was working for that man too?
This is impossible, Michael couldn't have been working with him all this time...could he?
"Get up, hurry before we get caught." Michael rushed, giving me an impatient look, "C'mon. Wake him up and let's go."
I gave Michael a confused look and stayed in place. I needed to know what was going on first.
Michael sighed and ran a hand through his hair, "Claire, Ashton and Calum are waiting in the van outside. I'm trying to save you guys' butts. Now, please, let's go."
I perked up at the thought of jumping in a van and getting out of this place, so I quickly shook Luke's shoulder and attempted to wake him up.
I would just have to wait and ask Michael all of the obvious questions once we were in the van.
For example, How did you know where we are? And, How did you get in?
But, there is one question that would only make sense if asked now.
"How will we get out of here?" I asked, as Luke groggily blinked his eyes to try and get adjusted to the darkness.
"Michael? What's he doing here? What's going on?" Luke asked gruffly as soon as he got woken up enough.
I ignored Luke's question and waited for Michael to tell me how in the world we were going to get out of here.
"Just follow me." Michael said and Luke gave me a wary look.
I smiled reassuringly back at him and grabbed his hand to try and ease the tension.
I pulled the still slightly sleepy Luke along with me as I followed Michael down the long corridor and right up to a metal door.
Michael swiftly took out a piece of paper and entered the numbers into the number lock on the door.
He lead us out the door and we were immediately faced with a large, bulky man that I assumed was a guard.
My heart sank as he saw us and began walking quickly towards us.
Just as he was getting close to us, Michael surprised me.
He pulled out a gun.
"Don't take another step." Michael growled and the man just smirked and pulled out of a gun if his own.
"Whatcha gonna do little boy?" The guard taunted Michael and I saw something flicker in Mikey's eyes.
He quickly knocked the guard's gun out of his hand with his foot and pressed his own gun to the guard's temple.
"The question is, what are you gonna do?" Michael sneered and fear washed over the guard's.
I watched Michael with amazement in my eyes, as did Luke.
When did he learn how to do this? Why is he so good at this?
The guard put his hands in the air and Michael kept the gun pointed at him as he reached down and picked up the guard's gun.
Michael walked towards Luke, making sure to keep his gun pointed at the fear stricken guard.
"You know how to use one of these?" He asked Luke and Luke glared at him.
"Of course I know how to use a gun."
Michael chuckled at Luke's defensive side and muttered, "Just making sure." before handing him the gun and turning back to the guard.
"We're gonna leave now." Michael said slowly to the guard, as if he was a child. "And you aren't going to do anything or I will shoot you. Got it?"
The man said nothing.
"I said, Got it?" Michael yelled and the man quickly nodded his head.
"Good." Michael mumbled and motioned for us to follow him through the next door.I still can't believe that Michael is here. And I also can't believe how good of a fighter he is. I would've never imagined this in all my years of knowing him.
"Just one more door and we're out of here, guys." Michael said to us, followed by a loud siren heard from somewhere far into the distance.
"But, we won't have to worry about these druggies for long.
"You called the cops?" I yelled, "Luke was a part of this! He could get arrested"
"I didn't call the cops, Claire." Michael laughed, "Well, not exactly."
I furrowed my eyebrows at his ambiguous answer but asked no more questions as I followed him towards the door separating me from freedom.
As soon as we walked through the door, there was the van.
As we were running towards the van, I spotted the letters DEA on the side, but paid no mind to them as Michael slung the door open and ushered us in.
When we got settled into our seats, I saw where the sirens were coming from.
There were three vans speeding towards us, the only difference being the sirens on top of their's.
They quickly parked in front of us and men in jumpsuits, that also have the letters DEA in big, bold letters on the front, jump out and rush in the building. Each of them had a gun in hand and a determined look on their face.
"What is going on?" I asked, looking to Ashton, who was in the drivers seat, then to Calum, who was in the passenger seat and finally to Michael, who was seated beside me.
Michael sighed and he, Ashton, and Calum all pulled something out of their pockets.
Badges. Badges that have DEA in big letters on the front.
"We're a part of the DEA." Michael sighed, looking up to meet my eyes, "That's why I moved here. I got this job and then when I saw you again after all these years, I just, I wanted to catch up with you. Then when I met him," He pointed at Luke, "I just knew something was up."
"So, I did my research and figured out that he was working for a drug dealer. But, the closer I looked and the more I noticed about him, it was obvious that they were blackmailing him into saying. It was obvious he didn't want to be a part of this. So, I didn't tell my bosses he had anything to do with it."
Luke's head popped up from its bowed position and his eyes were wide, "Really?"
"Yeah," Michael smiled, "I actually put in some good word about you. Since you were on the inside and you know how all of this works, I think you would be a positive asset to my team."
Luke's smile grew wider and Michael, Ashton, and Calum's smiles all mirrored Luke's.
"Soooo," Michael began, "I'd like to offer you a job. And as a cover up, you should orb ably be in the band too. No one can find out what we do for a living, no one except family can know about our jobs."
"Of course I'll take the job." Luke said excitedly, "And I don't have anyone else to tell, then. My only family already knows." Luke smiled wide at me and my heart exploded in my chest.
I do not think it's even possible to love this boy anymore than I do right now.
