[2] - love

"would you date, no could you love, a mute boy with a malice voice inside his head?" ~justin .

J.

justin. as a kid, justin was seen as the weird kid. though, the other kids talked to their imaginary friends, justin was labeled weird. mute had been labeled under the weird category with other stuff like eating glue and snuffling eraser pieces. no one saw him as normal, not even parents. . .
: :

the sun wasn't up, but justin was. his eyes glanced around the dimly lit room, with no purpose. he'd look over at the windows, and see nothing, but the moon glaring right back.

after what happened earlier in the day, justin wanted to be alone, behind his wall. justin didn't want to face his poor mother, even though they tried to show that they were fine, justin knew that they were both ready to collapse and give in. and let the wall win.

justin sat on his twin bed, and brought his knees up to his chest. he'd remember sitting like this when he had been talking to the voice. a voice who had no feeling towards justin or anyone else.

his ninth birthday came along, justin thought he was insane. what kind of voice tells you to push your mother down the staircase, or light a match and start a fire? he knew as the years went on, it would only damage him mentally. . .

justin wanted to cry, and let a few bricks fall from his wall. the wall stood very high, towering over him, always looking down at him. just as tears broke through his eyelids, a couple bricks fell, landing in pieces on the imaginary ground.

justin worked on his wall, trying to chip it here and there, finding a weakness in all it's strength.

flashback .

justin sat on the chair, with a golden crown around his head. his cheeks were aching. he'd been sitting there, smiling wide as he watched relatives and friends come through the front door with gifts wrapped up for him.

today, justin turned nine. he got no sleep the night before, because he stayed up practicing for how he'd act when he saw his gifts.

justin, being nine, heard his parents come home one day, with tons of bags. he knew that they had his gifts, seeing as christmas was a long way from being here. they had just gotten rid of all the snow.

after his parents left for work, and justin stayed home with a babysitter, he was tempted to find what his parents had bought for him.

justin traveled to the basement, with blue dinosaurs sprawled onto his pajamas with white socks that clung to his feet.

tip-toeing down the old staircase, justin finally found himself in the basement his father was always in. justin's father practically lived down there. only came up to see his family. a concerned wife and a mute son.

justin went through all of his dad's things, to get to the gifts. he was always told not to go through other people's things. he couldn't help it, nine year old justin had to know.

minutes later, justin found mostly everything and was now heading upstairs.

and that's when he heard it. . .
