justin. justin hadn't been exposed to real happiness while he was a child. he didn't know how it felt to feel love as a teenager, or how it felt to have friends that cared for him or things like that.
he'd only known heartbreak and betrayal.

justin smiled down at his phone screen as he sat on the couch in the living room of his mother's house.
he was so caught up in his own happiness he didn't hear nor see his mother walk into the living space and sit down on the couch across from the one he was seated on.
she wore a bright smile on her face, as she sat down and looked over to her son.
"justin," pattie spoke softly, like she didn't want to scare him away. she waited for justin to realize who was calling his name, and smiled when he looked up to meet pattie's eyes. "what happened?" pattie was tempted to know what happened last night, and did everything go good with season.
justin was quick to put his phone down and kept eye contact with his mother. he didn't tell her what happened last night, but did spill about his confession to season and the date they, or season, planned for tomorrow at the fair.
"oh!" pattie bounced in her seat when she saw the words, season, like, and date. her mute son had gotten a date with the girl he'd become infatuated with weeks ago. but, even if justin didn't know he had these feelings, his mother surely saw it at the beginning. . .
she just kept her mouth closed. but, now, she couldn't keep her mouth closed. she was too happy for him.
"oh, honey, this is great!" pattie clapped her hands together before she got up and went over to pull her son into her arms. even though his arms could wrap around her and her's couldn't, justin gladly laid his head against his mother's chest as she cradled him close.
