Part 8: -

Conor’s POV

It’s been two weeks since the fight with Jack, it’s also been two weeks and a day since Lexi gave birth to Lauryn. My twenty-first is coming up soon as well but I don’t want a party, I’d rather stay home and watch over Lexi and Lauryn. Gosh, I’m turning into a right old sod. I’d always enjoy going out and getting drunk but ever since Lauryn’s been born, I don’t wanna do that anymore. I just wanna stay at home and take care of her. I know I sound like a wimp right now but my family comes first. They have to. The whole world knows about Lauryn, except her name. It’s something that Lexi and I have decided to keep a secret. We just want her to have a normal life, I do know that someone will figure it out soon but I just hoped it wasn’t soon-soon.

“So Conor, you having a big party for your twenty-first?” Anth asked. Anth and I were on Skype, Lexi was sleeping and so was Lauryn. Lauryn had progressed rapidly and was getting along fine; but we did have to take her for check-ups just because she was stuck in Lexi’s womb for so long.

“Nope, I’m not having a party at all” I stated.

“But why man?”

“My family, Anth. Ever since Lauryn’s been born I just wanna spend time with her and be around her.  Lexi’s also not capable of doing things so I have to help her”

“What do you mean Alexis isn’t able of doing things?”

“Lexi had to get an emergency C-section because Lauryn was stuck. Lauryn was in an incubator up until the other day when they both came home. So Lexi can’t bend up or down so I have to help her until she’s healed”

“Oh, I get you now but surely you’d want a party?”

“Anth, I’d love to party but I don’t at the same time. I understand I’m gonna be 21 and you’re only 21 once but my whole life’s changed for the better and I need to embrace the time I have with Lauryn because I don’t know when everything will go belly up and I’m forced to leave Lexi and Lauryn”

“Conor, no one’s forcing you to leave Alexis and Lauryn. No one’s that mean, unless they’re really sick individuals”

“Anth, it’s everything to do with Lexi’s past that scares me. Her notorious abusive ex is still out there and if he knows that Lexi’s given birth then he’ll stop at nothing to hurt her again. It’s just terrifying to know that Lauryn’s weak, even though she’s better and that someone could come in and take her”

“Conor, you have protection from your guards. No one will be able to get in that house and you know it. Just stop worrying about everything and let it go smoothly. I’m pretty sure you’re worrying Alexis with all this rubbish, I know you wanna protect Lauryn and Alexis but there’s only so much you can do. You have interviews in the UK soon so you’re gonna have to leave them”

“I know Anth and that scares me. It scares me because I have to take my guards with me, which leaves Lexi and Lauryn unaided. I just wish this was easy and I wasn’t in the limelight”

“Conor you had a dream and now you’re living that dream. You have a wonderful family as well so stop thinking so negative. Sort something out with your manager because you shouldn’t be feeling this way. I don’t know if it’s because you’re a new dad or what but that’s not normal”

“I know it’s not normal Anth but I can’t stop it. We’re going home to Brighton this week so everyone can see Lauryn outside of the hospital but knowing that I’m not literally 2 centimetres away from Lexi is gonna kill me. I know I like her as more than a friend and as more than my daughter’s mum but she doesn’t like me in that way”
