Part 16: -

Alexis’ POV

Standing here in the park was terrifying. Conor was with me but we were both too uptight to do anything. All we wanted was Lauryn back and even then, we weren’t sure we’d get her back. It felt like a ploy just for Braden to get me back. Neither Conor nor I wanted to be here but we had to do something to get Lauryn back. And as promised there was a lot of unmarked police cars sitting around the park, just to be on the safe side.

It was a minute to twelve and I was literally getting antsy. I’m sure Conor was the same but it felt like we were getting tricked into something we didn’t want and need. We just needed Lauryn to be safe and healthy. Her medical condition is at risk and he seriously disrupted that. We made sure everything was clean and safe for her to use. Her blanket and teddy had to be washed every day just so it was safe for her. I know we’re taking a small medical condition to the extreme but when your daughter had to have fluid cleared from her throat and lungs just as she was born, you’re going to take those measures to make sure she’s safe. Yes, they told us that she’s fine and that she’ll be fine in a few days but we were new parents, unable to decide if she was fine or not so we just kept everything clean. Also, her breathing was limited at times so it made us worry worse.

“So you showed then” Braden’s voice rung out.

“Give us Lauryn” Conor spoke back.

“Patience young grasshopper. You’ll get her back once you give me Lexi”

“Lexi ain’t going anywhere,” Conor warned.

“Then you don’t get your daughter, simple as that”

“Where is she?” I asked shakily.

“She’s with Alaina. You know, that child never shuts the hell up”

“There’s certain ways she’ll sleep. Not that you know” Conor spat. “And give us back our daughter before we get the police involved”

“You know, you’re all talk and no play Conor. What does my sweet lexikins see in you?”

“A lot more than she probably ever saw in you”                Conor raged.

“I doubt it. I’m a real man, whereas you’re just a silly little boy”

“At least I’m not an abuser and a woman beater” Conor spoke.

“At least I’m not a shitty pop star whose career can go down the toilet in a flash”

“Actually it can’t. Not unless I bring out a rather boring song that my fans don’t love. Either that or I do something completely wrong and I can’t recover from it,” Conor stated.

“You’ll do something sooner or later,” Braden said.

“Nope, I shan’t. However, you won’t be able to see it when you’re locked up in jail” Conor spoke.

“And who says I’m going to get caught?” Braden asked.

“Who said there wasn’t police watching this park?” Conor rhetorically asked.

“So Lexi, explain to me what you see in this douchebag?” Braden asked me.

“A lot more than what you’ll ever be” I spat sourly.

“And what’s that?” He inquired.

“Well for one, Conor loves me. Secondly, he’s never hurt me. Thirdly, he doesn’t treat me as if I’m rubbish. Fourth, I can have a proper conversation with him. Fifth, we have an amazing daughter together. Sixth, his sex is much better than yours” I smirked.
