Chapter Sixteen
A pair of warm, chapped lips caused my eyes to flutter open. My groggy, tired eyes rested on an Irish face with bright blue eyes and a blonde head of hair. Immediately, I sat up and threw my arms around my wonderful boyfriend. Niall’s arms wrapped around my waist slowly as he rested his chin on my shoulder.
A groan slipped from the back of his throat as he told me, “God, I’ve missed having you around Allie.”
As we pulled away, I noticed how tired Niall seemed to be. He was lagging when he moved, there were dark bags under his eyes and his blonde hair was disheveled more than it usually was. I pressed my lips into a thin line.
“Niall,” I said firmly, “Go to bed. We can talk more in the morning, okay?”
He nodded his head slowly and laid down in the bed next to me. He wrapped one of the few blankets I’d spread on my bed and became still in the next few moments. Soft snores soon began to drift from his mouth. I mimicked Niall’s actions, falling asleep only moments later with a smile set on my face.

When I woke up the next morning, there wasn’t a body beside me. The blankets were completely stripped off the bed, leaving me in my cotton shorts. I propped myself up with my elbows and looked over the edge of the bed. There, I saw the pile of blankets, and slightly wondered if I’d kicked them off me last night due to being too warm. That tended to happen a lot.
Then I heard a loud giggle and an Irish voice speaking words I couldn’t detect.
With a smile on my face, I forced myself out of bed. Still in my tank top and cotton shorts, I walked out of the bedroom as I threw my hair up in the messiest bun I could manage. I heard Louise’s loud, high-pitched giggle and Nialler’s identical laugh follow shortly after. A grin plastered itself on my face as Louise and Niall came into my view.
Both of them were goofing around, wrestling with each other. Louise had Niall in a headlock while she messed with his short blonde locks. Niall just stayed there, caught in Louise’s grasp even though he could easily beat down Louise.
“Hi, guys,” I greeted them softly.
Louise’s head lifted and her gaze was set on me. Her big, round eyes widened and she let go of Niall, forgetting about him completely. She ran towards me and jumped in my arms. I lifted her up, resting her on my hip.
“Hi, Lou,” I grinned at my baby sister, pressing a light kiss against her cheek. “Was your morning good?”
She nodded her head enthusiastically. “Nialler woke me up!”
I laughed at her expression. “Did you eat yet?”
She nodded her head again. “I like Niall. Can he be my brother, sissy?”
My heart clenched suddenly. Niall... brother? I couldn’t form words inside my thoughts. A part of me froze, unable to function.
“Maybe a brother in law,” Niall corrected Lou, pressing a kiss against her cheek, “But that’s quite a ways away, love.”
Then it all clicked together. Marriage.
The thought was enough to send my heart in overdrive. I could feel my heart pump harder as I thought about Niall at the altar waiting for me to walk down to him in a white, fluffy dress. Quickly shooing the thought out of my mind, I focused on Lou who was still sitting on my hip.
“So, what do Lou and Niall want to do today?” I asked both, but kept my eyes on my little sister.
“We’re gonna make a fort!” Louise clapped her hands. “Yeah, we’re gonna have a fort and watch old American cartoons.”
