Chapter 13

Standing outside the door was my mother. But she wasn't alone. She was holding hands with some man. I opened my mouth but then quickly closed it.

My mother giggled. "You thought i wasn't coming home until a few weeks, but when I called you this morning I was halfway here. Gotcha!"

I looked down at my moms hand, intertwined with this mans who wasn't even her husband. My eyes gazed up at my mother and she blushed.

"This is J-" she stopped.

She didnt have time to introduce me to her "hubby" because I was already halfway up the stairs running to my room. Tears were rushing down my face. I slammed my door and sunk to the floor. I found myself calling Zack. I don't know what came over me but I needed to talk to him. It took only one ring before he answer.

"Hello?" He sounded happy to hear my voice

"Can you come over like right now?" I started to break down in tears again.

"Sure be there in a few minutes, bye." And he hung up.

About ten minutes later there was a little bang on my balcony window. I looked over to see Zack. He must of wanted to climb up here instead of go to the front door. I opened up the door for him and he sat on my bed. I wiped my tears and sat next to him.

"What's wrong?" He seemed nervous.

"Well my mom surprised us by coming home early and she was holding hands with another man!" I looked at the ground.

"Well your mom and dad are divorced, so she does have the right to date.Just give your mom some time to explain everything and maybe give the guy a chance." He stared at me, and when he noticed I wasn't looking at him he lifted my chin.

I didnt even know what to say. When he touched me a little tingle went through me. We both looked at each other for a moment, and I felt myself leaning closer and closer to him. We were so close to each other I could smell his cologne.

"Zack, I cant-"i was cut off.

I didnt have time to finish because Zack had leaned forward and kissed me. The kiss was light and sweet,but it was quick. Just as he pulled away there was a light knock on my door. Zack gave me a quick glance and quickly left out of my room. Just then my phone beeped.

"Give your mom a try and listen to her, also when you have time can you meet me at the park @ 8:00pm?" The text read.

"Ok and sure." I replied and threw my phone onto my bed.

My mother walked into the room, and she looked worried. She stood by the door and reached her arms out for me to hug her. I shook my head and denied it. She closed the door and sat in my computer chair.

"Honey, i know I've should of told you sooner but...." She stopped.

"Mom, its ok. And im sorry for running off, it's just that you know...you and dad....." I paused.

"I know sweetheart......James is such a great guy. Can you please give him a chance?" She looked at me and smiled

"Sure mom." I hugged her.

"Felicia left, so how about we order some Chinese food, and just all hang out?" She stood up.

"Sounds good, but at 8:00 i have to take care of some business." I grinned a little bit

I haven't told my mother about Zack and I didn't plan on it. I wasn't even sure if Zack's actually liked me. Maybe it was just one of those "in the moment" things and he didnt know what he was doing. Was I even sure if I liked him?

"Oh ok, well I'm gonna go downstairs to order the food meet you down there in a while. I love you." And with that she left my room.

She shut the door behind her and I ran over to my closet. It was only 6:00 so I had a little time. I put on a white tee and a cute leather jacket. I shimmed into a pair of grey skinny's, and lastly some black vans. I shook out my hair and let it fall on my shoulder. I took one more look at myself in my mirror,and went downstairs.

Like my mom said,James was a good guy and I had to admit he really was. Plus he had a great sense of humor. He even payed for the Chinese food. I looked at my cell phone. It was 7:35. Which meant if was time for me to go. I looked over at my mom and signaled that it was time for me to leave.I stood up.

"It was nice to meet you Kiana, hopefully I will get to see you soon." He smiled at me showing his pearly whites

"It was nice meeting you too James."i shook his hand.

I waved goodbye to everyone and walked out the room. Mom was letting me borrow her car so i could get there faster. I was anxious and excited to see what was in store for me at the park.

As I walked into the park, I could see Zack sitting on a park bench. He look nervous and really scared. I walked over to him and smiled. He stood up. We both stared at the ground for a few minutes.

"Kiana, about the kiss I-" Zack was saying but I interrupted him.

"It's fine, I know it didn't mean anything. No need to explain." I stared at him.

He grabbed my hands."Kiana every since we've been becoming friends Ive just had so many feelings for you. Your all I think about."

"Really?" Part of me was shocked and the other half of me was excited

"Yeah. I really like you." He squeezed my hands.

I kissed him on the cheek and he blushed. I didn't know if i liked him. He stared at me waiting for me to say something. I took my hands out of his and started walking towards the car.

"Kiana!" Zack yelled after me and I kept walking.

This was just a little to much emotion for me for one night. I needed to make sure I really liked him before I had to commit myself to him. Suddenly someone grabbed a hold of my wrist and spun me around. Zack.

"Kiana whats wrong?" He sighed.

"I know you like me, but I don't know If I feel the same way. Give me some time ok?" I loosens his grip on my wrist.

"I knew you were gonna say something like this. This is what I get for sharing my feelings. Good night Kiana."

And with that Zack walked away.
