I sat at the dining room table reading a vogue magazine. Zuri sat across from me coloring in her coloring book.

"Is dad on his way home yet to see us." She asked not looking up from the page she was coloring

"Yeah, he should be here in a few minutes." I mumbled to consumed in the pages of the magazine

My father was coming back from Washington to check up on us before he had to go back. My mother hasn't talked to me in about a month. No phone calls, no Skype request, no letters in the mail. Nothing. Dad didn't really seem to talk about mom a lot when he would call me. Every time I would bring her up, he would change the subject. I already knew my parents were getting a divorce sooner or later. Just then my thoughts were interrupted when my father walked through the back door.

"Daddy!" Zuri yelled and jumped into my fathers arms

"Hey my little princess." He smiled and kissed the tip of her nose lightly

"And how's my oldest daughter doing?" He said and kissed my forehead

"Fine." I replied

"Well who wants gifts?!?" He smiled enthusiasm rising in his voice.

Me! We both yelled in unison. We sat in the living room and my father handed us both two black bags. He had gotten Zuri and purple and pink tutu with rhinestones on it. And he got me a new pair of Jordan's and a necklace. After we talked for a little while and ate snacks I went up to my room. I put on a pair of white shorts and a pink shirt. I laced up my vans and walked straight out the door.

I know my father had just gotten back but I needed to talk to Felicia. With so much going on I haven't texted her in a few weeks. So we decided to meet up in Starbucks. As I sipped my Carmel Frap I sat down in the cold booth.

,

"Spill the beans." Felicia said suddenly before she even sat down

"My parents are getting divorced, what more can I say?" I rolled my eyes

"Technically they are still married, they haven't made the divorce official yet." She said and sipped her coffee.

"Yeah but I think it is totally obvi-." Just then she cut me off

There he was standing in the doorway. He was wearing baggy shorts and a tank top, and some red vans. Zack Johnson. Felicia was practically drooling over him.

"Who is that fine attractive se-" before she could go any further and into some disgusting details I put my hand up to stop her.

"That's Zack Johnson, he is a new singer at the club." I told her

"Well he sure is so damn fine!" She whistled

Just then Zack turned around and saw me. He smiled warmly and started to walk over. "Dammit!" I muttered to myself. He was now standing next to our booth

"Hey Kiana!" He said warmly

"Hey Zack, whats up?" I said, smiling polity

"Nothing much, just grabbing some quick coffee before I go rehearse." The worker at Starbucks walked behind him and gave him, his coffee

Just hearing him saw rehearsals made me mad. Felicia kicked my leg really hard from under the table.

"Oh and by the way this is Felicia." I rolled my eyes.

In unison they both said "nice to meet you." We all burst out laughing. Of course mine was a fake laugh.

"Well I have to go." Zack and I both said at the time
