My mom, Zuri, and I all rushed hand in hand into the E.R. I saw Zack's dad sitting in a chair in the corner. His head in his hands. We quickly walked over to him.

My mom spoke first. "Steve......Whats going on?!?" He put a hand on his shoulder.

He lifted his head up. His eyes were red and puffy. "He got into a fight with some guy! And the guy shot him."

"Do they know who shot him?" My mother sat down next to him.

"Nope, the guy ran off after."

I put my hand up to my mouth. I had a feeling I knew who shot Zack.

Mr Johnson continued. "Witnesses said that Zack had been yelling at him and then the kid threw the first punch. A huge fight broke out, and Then he pulled out a gun, Zack started running, the kid shot him, then ran off."

After a few moments of silence the doctor walked over to us.

"Mr Johnson?" He looked sad.

"Is my son alright? Please tell me he's ok." He shut his eyes tight.

"The bullet was a few inches away from his heart. Any closer and he could of died. But Zacks young, he's not doing to well. We did the emergency surgery and the bullets out. Thankfully the bullet wasnt bad enough to have to amputate him. But we think he only has a 50% chance." The doctor said as calmly as possible.

Mr Johnson broke down in tears. The biggest lump formed in my throat and a few tears streamed down my face.Zuri wrapped her frail arms around my waist and hugged me tightly. The doctor spoke up.

"He's in a coma right now, but one of you can see him if you'd like." He smiled.

We all looked at Mr Johnson. He looked over to me.

"Kiana you go." He stood up.

"He's your son." I wiped my tears off my cheeks.

"Go." He repeated.

The doctor led me down the hallway and into Zacks room. He looked so peaceful. The beeping of the machine made my heart sink. The doctor smiled at me and walked out of the room. I walked over to where Zack laid silently. I grabbed his hand and broke down in tears.

"Im so sorry!" I sobbed. "This is all my fault, im so sorry! " I sobbed harder.

After a few minutes, i decided it was time for me to leave.

I leaned forward kissing his forehead and then walked out the room.

One week later:

Zack's P.O.V

"Is that all for you right now?" My nurse asked me then gave a very bright smile.

"No im fine, thanks." I nodded my head and she smiled once more before quickly walking out the room.

It was pretty late and i quickly found my self having insomnia. My body ached and my head was pounding. I really didn't want to complain. At least I was still alive, and thats really all that mattered. I've been in a coma for at least a week, but as soon as i had woken up my father left. I really wanted to see him. Cry in his arms and tell him how much I loved him. I don't know what my dad would do without me. He would be a wreck. My thoughts were interrupted by a light tap on the door. All of a sudden Zuri zipped into the room, papers in hand.

"Zack your awake!" She screamed in excitement

"Lower your voice, were in a hospital remember." Ms. Williams said in a soothing tone.

"Hi." Zuri whispered giggling, then adjusting herself on my bed.

"Hey Z." I smiled and pulled her into a light hug.

"How're you feeling?" Ms. Williams asked, sitting on one of the couches.

"Sore, but im doing okay." I sighed.

I looked out the door and noticed Kiana handnt come in with them. I gave a puzzled look, and her mom noticed.

"Wayne needed her at the club." She spoke up.

I nodded.

For the next hour Ms. Williams and I talked and Zuri showed me all the drawings she drew for me. After they left, i was alone in the cold room. It was almost 8'oclock and visiting hours were almost over. I closed my eyes. and heard heels clicking on the tile. I figured it was just my doctor checking on me, so i opened my eyes. And there stood Kiana. Looking beautiful in a pure white dress. Her hair wavy over her shoulders. I could have sworn i thought I was looking at an angel. But she looked scared.

She frowned at me nervously. "Hi."

"Hi."

She looked at the ground, and then walked over to my bed and sat on the edge. She fiddled with her hair. I could see a single tear shed down her face, but she quickly wiped it away.

"We need to talk." I said suddenly

And with that she stared at me. Only three words escaped her lips.

"Everything has changed" she whispered.
