Chapter 16

When I got home, the house was quiet. In the living was my mom, James, and Zuri. They were all watching a movie. When my mom saw me standing in the entry way she smiled. I must of had a really concerned look on my face because, she quickly got up and took me into the kitchen.

"Is everything alright sweetie?" My mom said sitting at the kitchen table.

"No, Felicia and I got in a fight today." I frowned.

"What happened?" She gave me a puzzled look.

"She's mad at me because Im dating her ex-boyfriend." I sat up on the counter.

"Your dating her ex? Most of her boyfriends are ghetto!" My mother started to laugh a little. "What do you see in him?"

Before she could say anything else i showed her a picture of Zack, she stopped laughing. "Oh.....he's cute!" She stood up.

"And I really like him. But I also think Felicia still has feelings for him. What should I do?" I frowned.

"Well maybe Felicia shouldn't have broken up with him. If she was really your friend, she wouldn't mind you dating him."she nodded and shrugged

"Ok thanks mom." I gave her a quick hug, and ran upstairs to text Zack.

A few days later:

I twirled around one more time in front of the mirror. Tonight's the summer bash. I spent at least one hour of looking at myself wearing my cute dress. I put on a pair of old sandals, which I would be taking off anyway.My mom and Zuri went down the street to park, which saved me from embarrasing pictures that my mom would be taking. Just then the doorbell rang. I glided downstairs and opened the door. Zack was just on time. He was wearing a nice button up and some baggy type shorts. We had to leave a little early because we were driving down to Savannah beach.

"Hey beautiful." He leaned over and pecked me on the cheek.

I blushed. "Lets go." I grabbed his hand and we walked to his car.

It has been about a few hours since the party started and there were no signs of Felicia. The upbeat music had everyone cheering and dancing, not to mention most people had red plastic cups in hand. I was starting to get a major headache.

"Can we go walk down the beach?" I yelled loudly rubbing my temples.

"Sure." Zack said grabbing my hand and walking towards the water.

When the sounds of the music drowned out and was replaced by the soothing sounds of the crashing ocean, I sighed in relief. I loved partying but this one was the biggest one I had ever been too. And this was the biggest headache I had ever gotten. Zack pulled me close and kissed me on top of the head, which kind of made me feel a little better. The cold ocean water danced across my feet. Zach grabbed my hand and was pulling me into the water.

"No!" I screamed, the water already up to my knees.

He splashed water on me and I splashed back. He then dunked me into the water. I shivered from the coldness.

"Oh my god Zack!" I shook out my damp hair. But then my frown was replaced with a smile and I burst out laughing. I wrapped my arms around Zack's neck and gave him a kiss. When we pulled apart he smiled. Then I pushed him into the water, causing him to get drenched. I laughed. But then I started to go back towards the beach. I knew Zack was about to do something crazy. I giggled and started to run when I got to shore. Just then Zack grabbed me by the waist and spun me around. I adjusted my body so that way i was facing him now. The sun shined in the sky.This could have not been more romantic. After kissing for a few minutes he put me down. We were both still soaking wet. We walked back to the party, and thats when I saw her. And Zack noticed her too. She was making out with some dude.

"Lets just walk behind them." He whispered into my ear

He held my hand securely and we started to walk behind them, hoping she wouldn't notice us. We were totally wrong.

"Hey bitch!" She snarled at me in disgust.

I quickly turned my head around. The guy she was making out with looked so familiar. Oh my god. She did not!

I let go of Zack's hand and walked over to them. Zack quickly jogged next to me. Elijah Braxton. My ex-boyfriend. I stood there shocked.

"It's good to see you again baby." Elijah's smooth voice filled my ears.

I put my hand to my face and silently prayed to god that I wouldn't beat up Felicia.

"It's so nice to see you guys here!" Felicia said evilly.

"Kiana lets go." Zack whispered, but Felicia heard him.

"No stay! Have you meant my boyfriend?" Felicia tilted her head.

I literally choked on my saliva. It took me all my might to not go rip the cheap weave off of her head. Boyfriend?

"This is Elijah Braxton." She put her arm around his waist. "Don't you guys know each other right?" She stared at me smiling.

"Yeah."I mumbled under my breath.

"Wait........ He's your ex right?!?I totally forgot." She yelled as loudly as possible and faked laughed. That got everyone's attention. A little crowd was beginning to form."Zack did you know, these two used to get it on!" She added and Everyone laughed.

And that's when I totally lost it.

"You know what Felicia, Fuck you! And fuck you too Elijah! And fuck our friendship! Im done! That got a lot of "ooo's and remarks from the crowd.

I grabbed Zack's hand and stomped down the beach and into the parking lot. I had almost ripped his arm out his socket. I don't know why but I just started to cry. Im usually stronger than this.

"Woah, whats wrong?" He put one arm around my waist and used the other hand to wipe my tears.

"She totally knew Elijah was my fucking ex boyfriend. She is totally just trying to play me! And I don't want to fucking play her games anymore!"I screamed furiously, causing more tears to fall.

"Calm down. She's just trying to get back at you for dating me. Who cares what she does." He soothingly whispered into my ear, rubbing my back.

"I hate how she just tried to embarrass me in front of everyone!" I sobbed

He pulled me closer."How about we go get some ice cream? Then go find a nice spot on the beach and just talk?"

I smiled. "I'd love that." And with that we walked to the ice cream shop

My head was laying on Zack's chest. The warm sand tickled my toes. I was finally beginning to calm down. The sun was just starting to set. It was beautiful.

"Zack? Do you think I did the right thing today? I lifted my head up to stare at him.

He looked up at the sky. "It could have been handled a little better, but yeah. I know you and Felicia have been friends for a long time but I think it was about time you cut her loose."

I thought about that for a second. He was right. Felicia was only nice to me when she needed something, or whenever I did her a huge favor. Now that I think about it, she always used me.

"I guess your right." I laid back down.

"Aren't I always right?" He chuckled and kissed me on top of the head.

The sun was finally nowhere in sight, and all of a sudden I felt tired. I snuggled up in Zack's arms and my eyes began to feel heavy. I finally fell asleep by the hypnotic sounds of the waves crashing.
