After that fun challenge we all went to bed.

I could tell hesitant about sleeping next me.

"I'm not going to hurt you!" I said to him.

He relaxed a little and I scooted closer to him. I turned my body so I was facing him. His arm was under my head and on my side.

He looked over at me and we both smiled at each other.

"I'm sorry about my father today." I whispered.

"It's ok. I was just scared of loosing you." he said and his grip tightened on me.

"You could never loose me." I whispered in his ear.

I kissed him on his cheek and snuggled closer to him.

The next morning I woke to find no fighting thankfully. My head was on Kili's head again like last time.

I got up slowly and made my way to the kitchen. All the dwarves were still asleep. I found my father sitting in a chair. He looked like he was recalling some bad memories.

"Father?" I say from the doorway.

He shook his head and looked up at me with sadness in his eyes.

"You're thinking about that night, aren't you?" I asked him.

"Yes," he said quietly.

"We have each other know though." I said.

"Yes, but I assume you want to travel with the dwarves?" He asked me.

"Father. I love you, but a signed a contract that I would help them." I said and sighed.

"Alright then." he said and got up.

He went to the other end of the kitchen and pulled out a small box.

He then placed it on the table. I walked over and opened the wooden box.

In there was the most beautiful rock I've ever seen. It was light blue like the color of a robins egg.

"This isn't just a rock my dear. It's a healing rock." my father said.

I stared at it in awe and smoothed it with my thumb.

My father took one of my arrows.

"Father what-FATHER!" I shouted as he cut his hand open.

"Heal me." he said.

"How?!" I said angry that he cut himself.

"Press the stone to the wound and focus on it healing.

I did as he said and thought really hard on healing his cut.

It started to close and I was dumbfounded.

"Wow!" I said.

My father smiled at me. His smile soon disappeared as he said, "It was your mother's."

I stared at the stone in my hand and thought about my mother.

Tears threatened to spill but I wouldn't let them.

The loudness of the dwarves caught my attention and I slipped the stone into a pocket of my coat. I put the flap over my coat and buttoned it.

The dwarves walked in and sat down.

Kili and Fili sat on either side of me. Fili nudged me and I looked up at him. He smirked at me and I wore a confused look on my face.

I shook my head and looked down at the food in front of me.

I began to eat my breakfast when my father said, " So your the one they call Oakenshield. Tell me why does Azog hunt you?" He asked Thorin.

"You know of Azog?" Thorin said surprised as he faced my father.

"We once lived in the mountains peacefully. Then the Orcs came from the north. Some he killed and some he enslaved not for prisoners you understand, but for sport." At my father saying that some of the dwarves looked at me sadly. I just looked at my lap and gripped my hands so hard they turned white.

My father continued, "It seemed to amuse him to put us in cages and torture us."

I couldn't take it any more.

"Are there others like you 2?" Bilbo asked.

I scooted my chair back and stormed out of the room.

I was furious that I couldn't save my father and that he had to go through all of that.

I kept pacing back and forth. I couldn't stop and my fists were clenched.

I heard someone walk up to me, but I didn't care.

Until I faced back to them they put two hands on my shoulders. He forced me to look at him.

"Serena, It's ok I'm here, with you." Kili said.

I let one solitary tear fall down my face. I hugged him tightly before the dwarves came out.

I called for Saphira with the mind link and she galloped over.

'I think you should meet my father.' I said. I could tell she was worried about me.

I breathed a sigh and showed her all my memories. she looked at me with sympathy in her eyes.

"What was that about?" Kili asked.

"I shared my memories with her." I said quietly. Kili looked at me sadly.

My father just got done talking with Thorin. I walked over with Saphira trailing at my side.

My father stared at the horse confused.

"Father I would like you to meet Saphira. Saphira this is my father, Beorn." being the funny horse she is she bowed to my father.

I rolled my eyes and I then added, "She's my spirt animal."

"What?! Why didn't you tell me sooner?!" He said excitedly.

"I didn't have time, I guess?" I said.

He then started to inspect Saphira. She stood tall and proud which made me laugh.

"You have a noble steed I see."

He then started to pet her mane.

Saphira really liked my father and I was happy for that.

The company started to saddle up my father's ponies. I guessed that he was going to let us borrow them.

When all the dwarves got on their horses they looked at me. They were waiting for me.

I sighed and turned to my father, "Goodbye father!" and I hugged him tightly.

"Goodbye my daughter," he whispered into my hair.

I pulled away and saw Saphira kneeling for me to get on her back.

I climbed onto her back and looked back to my father.

"I will see you again father." I said.

"As will I." he replied.

With that I rode off toward the group and we set off toward Mirkwood.
