When we woke we got all packed up for another day of traveling.
Around noon I saw the forest looming ahead and it was making me uneasy. Kili kept by my side making me feel a little better.
Within a few minutes we were at the gate way of the sickening vast forest.
"Unpack the ponies and let them return to their master!" Gandalf announced to the company.
As the dwarves unpacked their ponies I walked over to my horse.
'I want you to go around the forest, and keep low and out of sight', I linked to her while stroking her face.
'I wish I could offer more help', she linked with a sigh.
'I know. Truth be told I don't want to go in there at all', I replied.
She snickered and I smiled.
I turned around to see Gandalf shooing away Dwalin and saying that he's going somewhere. Then Thorin got really mad and Gandalf said not to go into the mountain without him.
Saphira neighed delightedly at something so I turned around. Bilbo and Kili were on either side of her stroking her. I laughed and got one last look at her.
Gandalf mounted his horse and walked over to me.
"I am going the same way Saphira's going for a while. I could escort Saphira until we have to part ways if you would like?" He asked me.
"I would love that, Gandalf." I said looking from him to Saphira.
'Please be good for Gandalf?' I linked to her.
'You know I can't promise you that!' She snickered back.
I smiled at her and touched our foreheads together.
'Be safe.' I linked.
'You be safe.' she linked a little worried.
We pulled back and I watched her trot over to Gandalf. Once she was by his side he looked to me and gave me a sad smile along with a small wave.
I waved back and gave him a small smile as well. I watched as they turned and headed off over the hill.
Once Saphira reached the hill she turned and gave me one last look before rearing. once she was done it left a smile on my lips, but it soon disappeared when she disappeared over the hill.
I felt someone slip their arm around my waist. I leaned on their shoulder and sighed.
"She'll be all right," Kili said comfortingly.
"I'm also worried about Gandalf. Something has been troubling him for a while." I responded.
"Come! Let us not waste time!" Thorin bellowed at the company.
I turned fearfully to the forest and it felt as if something dark and evil was watching us.
"I don't like it one bit," I said to Kili as the dwarves entered the forest.
"I know, but the sooner we get in there then the quicker we can get out of this place." he said slipping his hand back around my waist.
I followed him inside wishing we could have went around. I closed my eyes and took in the last breath of fresh air I got for a while.
