“And that, Jesse and Alicia, is how mommy and daddy fell in love.” I said smiling at my beautiful children.
“Actually, we were in love long before that. This was the story of how we fell back in love and admitted it to each other.” Devin said before kissing my cheek.
“I thought the was so sweet mom.” Alicia, my 12-year-old daughter said.
“I guess it was nice. I’m not one for romance.” Jesse, my 13-year-old son said.
“Mhmm, sure. Try telling that to Amanda.” Alicia sang in a teasing voice.
“Shut up, Alicia!” Jesse yelled.
“You first, lover boy!” Alicia yelled back.
“Children! Alicia, stop teasing your brother. Jesse, don’t tell your sister to shut up. Problem solved.” I heard a girl voice say as a door closed.
“Yea, what she said.” I heard another one chip in right after.
“Aunty Mel! Aunty Jess!” They said before running up and giving them both a hug.
“Careful, careful. There’s a little bun in this oven, that’s easily damaged.” Mel said rubbing her baby bump.
“Sorry Aunty Mel.” They said in unison.
“It’s ok.” Mel said kissing them on the forehead.
“On the bright side, you can give Aunty Jess as tight of a hug as you want!” Jess said bringing them in for another hug.
“Aunty Jess, where’s Collin and Mason?” Jesse asked about Collin, Jess’s 13-year-old son and Mel’s 13-year-old son Mason. Yes, that means we got pregnant at the same time. Weird huh? Jesse’s a month older than Collin and Collin’s a month older than Mason.
“Oh, he’s at football practice where you should be.” Jess said smiling.
“That reminds me. I gotta take them to practice.” Devin said smiling. “Kids, get in the car. Jesse, you have football practice and Alicia, you have cheerleading practice. Hustle, hustle, hustle.” Devin said rushing the kids out the house. “See you in a bit babe.” He said before pecking me on the lips and bolting out the house.
“You guys are still as in love as ever.” Jess said smiling at me.
“I know. We just finished telling the kids about how we re-fell in love.” I said smiling while they sat down.
“Oh, that’s a great story to tell your grandchildren.” Mel said.
“Yea, it is. Anyways, how’s the little baby growing inside there?” I asked Mel.
“They are good. I’m having twins.” She said smiling.
“Oh Mel that’s amazing.” Jess and I said in unison.
“Yea, well being pregnant while caring for a 13-year-old and a 7-year-old is very, very stressful.” She said rolling her eyes.
“But worth it, because we all got our happily ever after’s.” I said smiling.
“Yes we did.” Jess said nodding. And everyone lived Happily Ever After! The End…
