**Samantha's POV**
I landed in New York only a couple hours after laying in JJ's bed. I wore one of his high school football sweatshirts on the flight home and every once in a while I would bend my nose down to get his scent in my head.
I got back to my apartment and unlocked the door- when I walked in, I was greeted by my cat Lucy and my best friend Tabby. She looked me up and down and raised one of her eyebrows.
"You look, very, Wisconsin-y..." she said.
She wasn't wrong, I was wearing my faded jeans and converse with JJ's sweatshirt on with my hair pulled back and not a stitch of make up on my face.
"Thanks?" was all I could respond to her.
"What's up, you seem bummed." she asked me while patting the seat next to her on my couch.
"I don't know- I'm just upset I couldn't go with JJ to Texas. We made a deal that we would have one year apart from each other, but I feel like I don't want to do this anymore. I don't want to be apart from him for this long."
"Aren't you going to see him next month at his opening game?" she asked me.
Tabitha didn't understand- her boyfriend live 5 blocks away from her. JJ and I lived next to each other basically our whole lives and ever since we've been adults, we've been apart pretty much.
"Come on, dress rehearsals start next week for Anything Goes. It's gonna be the fist play we're in together since we were in Annie!" Tabitha said while leaning her head on my shoulder.
She did have a good point, I should enjoy this last year of living in New York, especially with my best friend.

**JJ's POV**
Training camp was well under way and I thought that I was in way over my head. I wanted to impress every one of my coaches and prove to them that I was worthy of their first round pick in the draft. I already know a ton of the Texans fans weren't too happy with my getting picked first so I already knew I had to prove to them that I was worth this shot in the NFL. The heat in Texas alone made me want to die- I threw up a good three times the first day of practice, now I've managed to only puke a total of three times in the week. It was brutal.
I talked to Samantha nearly every night- and some nights I would get back to the house I'm staying in with some of the other rookies and pass out even before my head hit the pillow. I would text her the next morning and explain to her that I fell asleep and she would always respond back to me with a "I understand" text followed by a smiley face and heart emoji. I don't know how I got so lucky to get her. I also don't know how she could be so good at what she does and she's able to balance it all so well. I guess she's just a natural talent when it comes to that- I however have to work extremely hard for football and I'm just happy she understands.
I think she gets it so well because I've known her my whole life and she just knows me- where as some girl who just got to know me, wouldn't understand. I think that's why things never got serious with Madelyn- thank God.
Practice was almost over for the day and I still had to go sign the 6 months lease for my condo I'll move into once training camp is done. There was no way once Samantha came down to visit that she was going to come down that she was going to stay in the rookie house with me. Once I signed an official contract with the Texans after training camp, I'll take Samantha with me to find a house with me. I'd need her help picking out one- plus with her most likely moving down here next year, it will be half her house anyways.

{{Author's Note}}
I am so sorry for this chapter- it's really pathetic but I knew I couldn't just delete the whole thing! So I'm just gonna leave it up here for God knows what. A filler I guess? The next one will be much better.
I am going to publish another chapter in the Christmas short story to make up for this one tonight too.
Plus I'm gonna be putting little pictures in the top that have something to do with the chapter since I kind of just discovered it. It helps with picturing the story even more! :)
Thanks!
