**JJ's POV**

I thought for a second I was going to lose her. She was so devastated when I left her behind at the party and then brushed her off like she was some kind of drunk girl trying to get my attention at these parties. Never again will I abandon her. I had finally convinced her to come back to my dorm with me and spend some time together and we ended up having, probably the best sex of my life. I usually don't like to have sex the day before a game so our coach says to avoid it all cost the night before since it helps keep your testosterone levels up but I couldn't help myself- I love Samantha and I wasn't about to let some dumb coach's rule from showing her just how much I care about her.  So, the next morning when I woke up to a cold bed- I was confused. 

Todd came busting into the room, "Hey man- We've got 30 minutes to get down to the locker room and get ready for the game!" he said while rushing into the bathroom.

"Todd, have you seen Samantha at all? I didn't hear her get up this morning. Maybe she went to grab a coffee or something?" That was her guilty pleasure after all. Samantha has been drinking coffee since we were 13. 

"Nah man, last time I saw her was when you were chasing her out of the party last night! Sorry dude!" he responded. 

That's when I saw it- the letter sitting on my desk with my name written in her beautiful, neat handwriting. My heart dropped down into my stomach. At first I just stared at it, hoping it was something cute like her just saying how she just went out for a morning run before the game. But really in the back of my mind I knew what was coming next. She did feel distant after the sex last night when we were cuddling. I can always tell when her mind is some place else. She almost feels like she's cold and a million miles away. I slowly walked over to it, unfolded it and began reading- as soon as I read the first line I knew this was the end. 

I could barely make it through the letter but some how managed to finish reading it. That was it- she was gone and she didn't want me to fight for her. That's how selfless that girl is, she was more concerned about me focusing on myself than she was of us making it work and as much as I hated that- I respected it. I was going to respect her space. I know eventually, I'm not sure when, but we would make it back to each other. I read it over one last time when Todd finally came back out of the bathroom and slapped me on the shoulder, "Come on man- we've gotta move it!" 

He was right, this is when I had to make this breakup with the love of my life mean something. This meant that I had to go out there and work my hardest, for Samantha. So, it didn't seem like she broke up with me for nothing. But, I also had to distract myself from the pain because if I didn't break myself by continuously practicing than I was going to let my broken heart break me and that wasn't going to be an option.

**SAMANTHA's POV**

Unlike my usual arrivals to New York- I was not in my chicest clothes. I was just wearing my all black juicy couture tracksuit and sunglasses with my hair piled up in a mess on top of my head. Luckily I was able to get a flight that morning and call ahead for a car to take me back to my apartment once I got home. I hadn't called Richie or Tabby to come pick me because at the moment I just wanted to be alone and I had today and tomorrow off from work to throw myself a pity party. 

I took my key out and unlocked  the door to my apartment where I was greeted by my beautiful orange Maine coon cat- Lucy. I picked her up, even though she was one big cat and pet her head while I talked to her like some crazy cat lady. 

"Oh Lucy, what did I just do?" I asked and she responded with a little meow. "Did Tabby stop by and take care of you yesterday?" 

"Actually I never left!" She said while she came barreling out of my bedroom. 

"And why am I not surprised Tabitha?" I asked her. 

"Oh come one! You have the nicest apartment in the city! It's huge compared to what I have, not to mention it's decorated just so perfectly- so shabby chic! Besides, I wanted to know what it felt like to live like a Broadway diva for one day!" She said while take Lucy from me and giving me the best puppy eyes she could manage. 

I just laughed at her, thankful that I had her in my life to make me smile when I was in so much pain. 

We ended up talking and I told her everything that had happened between JJ and I. She tried her best to console me but then again Tabitha had never been in a relationship before so it's not like she could empathize with me but I appreciated her listening to everything I said. 

"I just hope I didn't make a mistake and I hope he doesn't ruin his future by trying to get me back, you know?" I said to her. 

"Well-" Tabby said while slapping her knees and standing up. "there's only 2 things we can do today to fix that!" 

"And what might those two things be?" I asked her, smirking and looking up at her. Admiring her craziness at the moment. 

"First things first, we have to go get you a new number! That way you can't call JJ and he can't call you. So write down the numbers you want to save then we're going down to the Verizon store. Then, the second thing we have to do is go do some retail therapy! I always find when a guy breaks my heart, no where near as much as your heart is breaking, but you know- guys still suck, the best place to go is to Victoria Secret and buy yourself some new undergarments! Makes you feel a thousand times better! I promise. So let's go get a new phone, some new panties and the a couple outfits to wear to some events this week." 

She was right, I had a busy schedule this week including helping out with the new Annie auditions since I was in the production years ago, I had to sing at some charity events and even meet with some casting agents for a couple of other musicals coming up. The best thing to do was to keep busy and keep my mind off of the whole thing. 

I could do this.

I hope you're enjoying the story so far! I'm not entirely sure how I am going to write these next couple of chapters- but I will some how figure it out. I know where I eventually want to end up but I just have to figure of what direction I want to go in to get there!
