one month later...
**Samantha's POV**
I was finally heading down to Houston again and to see his first game in the NFL. The rest of the family was going to meet me down there as well since we were all so excited and proud of JJ for all that he has accomplished. He has officially been signed to the team and he also said he needed help finding a house now that he has been paid for what he loves to do.
"It's not like New York though Samantha, you can get a lot more than a little tiny apartment for $3,000 a month! It's Texas, everything is bigger in Texas." he joked with me the day he told me he wanted me to help him find a house when I came to visit.
He was so cheesy and happy lately- and I couldn't help but be happy for him, but yet also jealous. Jealous of what? I don't know. I just wanted to be down there, celebrating with him and experiencing all of this together, with him.
But today I was finally going to see him again and I couldn't be more excited. I was in the car, early in the morning on my way to the airport in New York for what feels like the millionth time in my life.
"So, are you going to be able to pick me up from the airport this afternoon?" I asked JJ.
"Yeah, I should be. What time are you landing? I have a break between the two a days practices so I can probably be there."
"I'll be in Houston at 1:45!" I exclaimed with a smile on my face.
"Then I will see you then babe." he said back to me.
We said our I love you's and then hung up and then I was off to catch my flight to see my man again. It felt like I hadn't seen him in ages but in all reality it had only been about a month.
While I was sitting there waiting to board a flight, an older couple came and sat one seat away from where I was. When the older woman looked over at me, I couldn't help but smile in her direction.
"So what is taking you to Houston, Texas today darling?" she asked me.
I was surprised at first that she started a conversation with me, but when I heard her southern accent- I knew she wasn't a New Yorker, hence the reason she in fact started a conversation.
"Uh, my boyfriend. He lives in Houston now and I'm going down to visit him." I responded.
"Did work bring him down there?" she asked.
"Yes, actually. He plays football for a living. His first year playing so it's been tough. Keeps him busy that's for sure."
"Well, you love him right? I mean, I can just tell you love you deeply by the way your face lights up when you talk about him. I feel the same way about my Jerry here after 50 years of marriage to him." she patted her husband's arm and he smiled back at her.
"Oh wow, congratulations on a long happy marriage." I said back to them.
"Well, it can be tough at times- remember that. But, when you truly love them every day will in fact be the best day of your life." she responded.
I smiled and then we got the call to board the plane- seeing that couple together made me all the more excited to get to Texas and to JJ.
