12:45 pm
After feeding the girls and putting them down for a nap, I say bye to Ariana and Sean and go across the street to Skai's house.
"Hey guys, I'm back to help." I go into the living room where Peyton is still watching Sofia the First.
"OMG, Taylor. Thank god you're back." Peyton comes over to me with Layla asleep on her shoulder.
"Thanks. So I see you've gotten her asleep, again. Did you get Skai's mom?" We go over to the couch and sit.
"No, Skai's trying to reach her right now. Cameron and Karan went looking for her about 5 minutes ago." She turns the TV to Dance Moms and turns the volume down a bit.
"What should we do? I mean, I'm really worried." Skai rushes in, pointing to her phone.
She puts the phone out and the Caller ID and it's her mom. After answering with a huge smile on her face, her smile begins to fade as the voice on the other end talks. She hangs up and collapses on the couch.
"My mom is still at the party, but she passed out because she drank too much." Skai looks out the window, whispering to herself.
Layla wakes up and blinks her eyes. Apparently, she just remembered what she was mad for and starts crying again. Skai gets up, takes Layla, and leaves with tears in her eyes. I hear Layla screaming that's she wanted mommy.
Me and Peyton go upstairs to Layla's room and stand in the doorway. Skai is sitting on the edge of Layla's bed rubbing her head. They have tears running down their faces while they talk quietly.
After Skai stays in there for a while, rubbing Layla's head, Layla falls asleep, again, and Skai comes out with a tear stained face.
Me and Peyton hug her and go to her room.
"Thank you guys for helping. I love having you as my friends. I just don't understand why she would do this." She puts her head down and cries silently.
Over her crying friend, Peyton mouths for me to do something. Obviously, adults aren't useful in this situation. Peyton leaves and closes the door then I lift Skai's head up.
"Skai, I need you to look at me and listen. I know what you're going through, but my problems were not nearly as bad as yours. I know lure not used to this, but sometimes, parents have a little too much fun."
"My mom did this all the time. She always came home early in the morning, drunk, and slept through the day, then did it again, and I let her. You dint have to let your mom do this. When she comes back, let her know how hard it is, and she will stop."
Skai wipes her face with a tissue and hugs me, then we go downstairs with Peyton.
"Did you fix it?" Peyton whispers when Skai goes to the bathroom.
"I think so. Let's just wait and see."
"We should probably call Cameron and Karan back." I take out my phone but Peyton stops me.
"They're already at home. Don't worry."
30 Minutes Later: 2:00 pm
Me, Skai, and Peyton are watching AHS when the door opens. Skai immediately jumps up and runs to her mom, who stumbles in, with her hair all messed up, and her clothes wrinkled.
"Mom!" Skai screams, attacking her mom with a hug, even though she knows it hurts her.
"Peyton!" Layla yells from upstairs.
She runs up the stairs, brings Layla back down, and gives her to Skai.
"Mommy, where'd you go?" Layla says, reaching for her.
"I had some business to attend to. Mommy needs to go take a nap. I'm thinking about going to a party with my friends later." She starts walking towards the stairs but Skai screams so loud, she probably woke up the girls at home.
"Skai, shush. I have a headache." She rubs her head and tries to go up the stairs again.
"I'm beginning to see a pattern. Is there a problem here?"
"Mom, you're not going to another party. One is enough. You had us all worried sick, and now you stumble in and expect us to just be fine with it. This is what happened to Taylor's mom, but she didn't stop it. I'm going to. No more parties." Skai says.
Skai's mom, seeing the topic is not up for discussion, groans and goes upstairs to her room.
"Good job, Skai." I high five her and say goodbye, then me and Peyton go home.
