A/N Above is the picture of Karmani.
2:30 pm
When I get home, everyone is playing Monopoly Millionaire in the living room.
"Hey, I was just playing that last night." I sit on the couch and watch the episode of Spongebob that's playing.
"Cool. I'm totally beating their as... butts right now." Ariana giggles and continues playing.
"You sure about that? I seem to have gained $3,000,000 because Kaylee landed on my hotel. Thanks Kay." Sean collects his money and it's Ariana's turn.
I'm on Instagram and I see something that stands out. It's a little girl, she looks to be about Layla's age, 6-7. There's a picture of her with her name, Karmani, and it says For Sale.
Tears come in my eyes when I look at the picture. I open the profile and there's many more pictures of her. How has no one seen this. Then I get it, I'm the only one allowed to see the profile. (A/N I know that's not a thing.)
The parent of this child wrote rude things about her, but then I see more notes. It says Maybe Ariana Could Adopt Her Since That's All She Seems To Do These Days. I show Ariana my phone and she calls DHS and the police immediately.
They instruct us to drive to the nearest police station and show them the pictures. We do what we're told and the police track where the phone is, although, they didn't need to because the address is on the page, but it's whatever.
We to to the address and end up in front of in abandoned looking house. It's one story, has broken window's, the grass is really high, there's no leaves on the trees, and everything seems to be dark and dangerous.
"Ari, I'm scared. For us, and Karmani." I hold on to her arm as we follow the police through the grass.
"Don't worry. Maybe we could adopt her." Ari says with a hopeful smile.
She looks really excited, and scared, but I think we're gonna have a new kid in our house soon. The head officer bangs on the door about 10 times, then steps back, with his hand on his gun.
A woman opens the door, holding a baby boy in her arms. He looks to be about 3.
"Oh, finally. Karmani and Oliver have been waiting for you, Ari." Ariana flinches at the sound of her name.
The woman hands Ariana the baby, who I'm guessing is Oliver, and tells us to come in.
"Mani, you have some guests." She yells, picking up a bottle and drinking all of it.
The house is more terrible on the inside, than the outside. Broken glass is everywhere, old toys are all over the floor, bottles are scattered. While looking around, Oliver starts crying and the woman turns to face him.
"Shut up you brat." She lifts her hand up, but the police take the bottle and cuff her.
"Hey, you can't arrest me. I haven't done anything wrong." She tries to get away, but fails.
"Trust me, you're gonna be far away from prison. You're going to an asylum." The police takes her outside, leaving me, Ariana, Oliver, and the other officer.
"We should check on Karmani. She's taking a while." Ariana hands Oliver to me.
"Can you talk?" He seems to know what those words mean, and shakes his head.
"Ari, I think we should get him a tutor. He needs help. I don't think he can walk, either." She nods as we navigate through the house.
We end up at a closed door with a K on it. The officer opens the door and Karmani is on the bed, sleeping. Ari rushes over to the bed and shakes her gently.
"Karmani, are you ok?" She says, turning her over.
There's dried blood on her face and she has a black eye, not to mention the scars and bruises on her face, arms, and legs.immediately, tears start calling down my face and I walk out of the room.
"Taylor, come back. She said she wants you and Oliver." Ari whispers.
I can tell she's crying. I walk back in slowly and look at her.
"I'm a big fan. Will you adopt me?" She whispers, her voice hoarse.
"I think I will." Ari sits on the bed and strokes her hair.
She smiles and tries to sit up.
"Don't. Me and Taylor will take you to the hospital. Officer, can we?"
"Yes, please get them help. I'm gonna stay here and call for backup." He speaks into his walkie talkie while Ariana picks up Karmani and we go to the car.
"I like your car." I put Karmani and Oliver in the backseat and get up front with Ari.
"Thanks." Those are the last words that are said, on the silent divestiture hospital.
At the Hospital: 3:45 pm
We are in the emergency room with Karmani, since Oliver is in another part of pediatric care and can't have visitors until he's healthy.
"Mani, how do you feel?"
The doctors cleaned her up, and all she has now are bruises and a black eye. It's better than before.
"Better." She yawns and closes her eyes.
The doctor comes in and beckons us outside.
"Oliver needs a tutor and he will need to learn how to walk, talk, and make words into sentences. Karmani is up to date on her studies, which surprised me, because the mother claims she never took her to school. She was actually doing homeschool. On her own."
"That's great. I think we should put her in Bright Futures." Ari says to me.
I nod as the doctor looks confused.
"It's a K-12 learning academy for famous kids. It's a private school." I explain.
He nods and says that's a good idea.
"Ok, it's settled. You can take them home tomorrow, so, see you then."
"We need to get their rooms ready. Now we only have one guest room."
Me and Ariana go home, spread the news, and everyone helps us set up their rooms.
