Me and Jordan are chilling at home, waiting for everyone to come back. I'm enjoying the quiet, knowing I won't have much in the next few days.
"Jordan, you're a month old. Don't you think it's a little too early to talk?" I tickle her stomach, making her giggle.
10:45 am
Me and Jordan fell asleep on the couch but we're wide awake when everyone came through the door, loud and obnoxious.
"Hey, hey, hey. We were trying to sleep." I get up, trying to rock Jordan back to sleep.
"I know. I need to hear her say it. Maybe we should take her to the doctor. It's not normal." Ariana picks up Jordan and asks her to say it again.
"Da... dada." She whispers, staring at Sean the whole time.
"Awww... Let's go to the doctor." We all get in the car and go to the pediatrician.
At the Doctor: 11:15 am
"Dr Sharp, Jordan said her first word today." Ariana says.
Sean is getting ice cream with everyone else.
"Aww, how cute. So why'd you bring her here?" Dr Sharp has a southern accent and it sounds amazing.
"She's only a month old." The smile is wiped off of Dr Sharp's face when she hears this.
"Oh. We need to run some tests on her and take an x-ray." Dr Sharp takes Jordan and lays her on the bed then leaves.
She starts crying because she's cold and Ariana giggles.
"So now it's funny that your baby is crying?" I slap her playfully and giggle as well.
She nods and continues laughing. Jordan is turning red in her diaper from crying so much.
"She's so cute." Ariana says, laughing more.
"OMG! Ariana, you are so disrespectful." I take a picture and put it on Instagram and Twitter.
Finally, they both calm down and the room is filled with silence until Dr Sharp comes back. (A/N Am I the only one who experiences that awkward silence in the room until the doctor comes in, all loud and happy?)
"So, I'm gonna run a few tests, then take an x-ray and tell you the results." Dr Sharp takes Jordan our of the room and we hear here crying until the noise fades.
"Just rude." I say to Ariana, answering the call I'm getting from an unknown number.
"Hello?"
"Hi." I recognize it as Karmani's voice.
"Hey Mani. How are you liking your new phone?"
"It's awesome. Can we come back now? I think Sean's having a bit of trouble taking care of all these kids. I'm trying to help with Olly, but the twins and Mackenzie are a big handful."
"I know right? Sean's taken care of them before, but go ahead and come back. Oh, thank you for helping." I hang up, knowing Karmani is gonna be the most responsible 7 year old I have ever met.
"Karmani is such a good girl. When does she start school?" Ariana is on her phone, not paying attention like always.
"Oh, umm, next Monday. She's supposed to be in 2nd but she wanted a challenge so she took a test and now she's in 3rd." Ariana explains, not taking her eyes off the screen.
"One day, you're gonna wake up without your phone. Don't blame me." I tell her.
We hear Jordan's crying before they walk in the room.
"So, Jordan is perfectly fine. Not normal, fine. She doesn't have any sicknesses or anything but, she has the genes of a genius. Ariana, I need blood samples from you and your husband so we can find out who's side of the family they came from."
I put Jordan's clothes back on while Ariana gets her blood drawn.
"Hey, hey, hey." Sean opens the door holding Olly, while Karmani holds the hands of the twins and Mackenzie.
"Hi. Sean, Dr Sharp needs your blood so we can see who's smarter. Jordan has the genes of a genius." Ariana says proudly, while Dr Sharp gives her a bandaid.
"It's obviously me." He says, setting Oliver down in my lap.
"Aye bro. Don't you see I have your genius daughter in my arms?"
"Oh yeah." He gives Jordan to Ariana and I keep Olly.
"You're obviously not the genius." I mutter.
"What was that?" He says, getting his blood drawn.
"Nothing." I say innocently.
12:00 pm
We are currently waiting for the results of the test and admits taking forever. It's not easy when you have a sleeping newborn, 3 obnoxious little girls, and Oliver, who insists on sitting on Sean's lap, then getting back down, over and over again.
"Ok, the results are in." Dr Sharp says.
"Finally." I whisper to Ariana.
She giggles.
"The genes came from Ariana's side." Ariana stands up and does a victory dance while Sean stays down, looking annoyed.
"Let's go." I grab Ariana's hand and pick up Oliver.
Sean walks out, holding the handle of Jordan's car seat, with Karmani behind him, holding hands again.
