I was supposed to keep my rank low. I was supposed to keep my Divergence, secretive. My mother told me, Tori told me, and even Tobias told me. All the people I cared about told me, and I didn't listen. I didn't listen to them because, now I'm running away my problems. Does that even ever work? Won't your problems just come back for you? Or am I fast enough to permanently get away from them?

I try not to think and get overwhelmed about it.

Tobias is right beside me. He is still confused over the whole situation because, I haven't told him yet.

"So, what's wrong Tris?" he sounds worried.

"Eric... he's coming for... me." I am breathless saying those words.

"What?" he asks.

We stop in front of the apartment and I rush to the elevators. I need to tell Christina where I'm going. She'll be confused but, I won't have to explain the whole story to her. I can't tell her the reason why either. She's already so devastated about Will, and I've hardly even spent anytime with her.

I sigh. We get into the elevators and the doors close.

"Eric. Jeanine. They are alligned. Eric is a disguised Dauntless. He's really in the Erudite faction. He shot Will because, he knew I'd go to Erudite. Don't you see? They know about my Divergence. I just.." I get overwhelmed by the last two words. I re correct myself.

"I just have to get out of here. Fast."

Tobias just looks at me. I stare back. His face is unsure. He doesn't want me to go. I don't want to go but, I have to.

Do I really? How about everybody here? Will everyone else just get shot to death? Thoughts go through my mind, I'm not sure if it's a good idea to leave. Maybe.. Maybe I should just go to the Erudite. It would save lives.

"Tris, you don't need to leave." his voice sounds desperate.

"You don't get it." I say, and the elevator doors open. I walk out and Tobias is right behind me. I look right to left into the empty hallways, and I walk up to Christina's door.

I knock twice.

No response.

I know two more times.

"Christina, you in there?"

I slightly open the door, and Christina is still sitting on her bed. She still looks like a mess but, I'm not going to make a joke of her appearance.

Tobias waits at the door and I walk in.

"You okay?" I ask.

She just shakes her head, and tears start to slip down her face.

I walk toward her bed and sit beside her.

I hug her. Because, I don't know what else to do. And, I bet that's what she needs right now.She sobs more, and I say,

"I know. I miss him too." A tear rolls down my face but, I try to keep the waterworks from coming. It's probably already awkward for Tobias.

Then all of a sudden there's a big BANG.

I jump up from my seat. I look at Tobias and give him a 'what is that' look. He walks down the hallway to see if there was anything there.

Me and Christina just stare at each other.

Then..

Eric runs into the room with a gun. He aims the gun at Christina's stomach and fires. Christina makes a weird sound.

I scream and Tobias is in the hallway fighting Eric.

I see Tobias fist link with Eric's jaw, and Eric drops the gun.

Christina is clutching her stomach and making groaning sounds. My whole body starts to shake and I don't know what to do.

Tobias shouts, "Get her out of here." And I quickly help Christina up. When we pass out of the room, Tobias is beating Eric. He's punching and kicking but, I turn away as fast as I can, and repeatedly click the elevator button. When, the doors open, Christina and I, get into the elevator.

She's still holding her stomach, and there's a pool of blood on her shirt.

"Oh my god." I say.

"Oh my gosh, I didn't know that was going to happen. Just..." I stutter and panic.

"Just hold on tight okay."

She nods, and clenches her teeth. I can see the pain in her eyes. The pool of blood on her shirt.

When the elevator opens we quickly exit.
