You smiled as one of the waitresses brought you your drink. "Thanks." you said quietly before she walked away. Then you stared down at the glass in your hands, sighing as you thought about why you were here.
You looked up as you heard slight excitement. Nothing too excessive, but the group sounded happy and it caught your attention. There were two guys standing up at the bar with huge smiles. One of them was pretty tall compared to the other. The shorter one patted the taller one on the back.
You looked away as the taller guy, who was clearly the one celebrating something, looked over at you. You flipped open your phone and looked at the screen. You smiled before taking a drink.

"That's great Jared!"
"Yeah, well, it's not official yet."
"Who cares man!? You got a call. You're flying to LA in a couple weeks to audition. This is amazing!" Jared smiled as he looked back to the bar, reaching for his drink.
"Yeah. I guess so." he looked up from his drink and caught eyes with you, noticing you were sitting by yourself. You looked away and he squinted his eyes slightly, curious on what your story was when you looked down at your phone.
"You guess so? Come on man. I bet you get it. They'd be crazy not to cast you." All Jared could do was smile. This still seemed a bit surreal. "Well hey, I'm sorry I can't stay longer to celebrate, but I got get going."
"No, that's alright. Don't worry about it."
"We'll have to celebrate the right way soon though. I'll let you know when I'm free." Jared laughed as his friend, Brad, started backing away from the bar.
"Okay. I'm holding you to that." Brad laughed as he turned and left the bar. He looked back at you, this mystery of a girl, and he couldn't help himself as he saw you look at your phone again.
He grabbed his drink and made his way over to your table. You didn't look up until he was standing next to your table. You shut your phone and smiled up at him, trying to be polite.
"Hi." You couldn't help your smile from growing bigger at hearing his voice. That along with his smile, he had your attention.
"Hi."
"I'm so sorry to bother you but, I couldn't help but see that maybe, you're waiting on someone? Didn't know if you might want some company. If not, that's okay. I just...."
"I'm not waiting on anybody." He tried not to look too excited.
"Well, then would you just like some company? Or do you want to be alone? Because I can just buzz off." He smiled as you laughed, hoping it was a good sign.
"No. Company actually sounds sort of nice." He bowed his head slightly, and then pulled the chair out that sat across from you and took a seat.
"I'm Jared." he reached his arm across the table and you took his hand.
"Y/N." All you could think was, man this guy was big.
"Y/N. Well it's nice to meet you." You bowed your head slightly, agreeing with his statement. "Now, I hope you don't mind me asking but, if you're not waiting on anyone, why did you keep looking at your phone?" You glanced down at your phone again, probably for the millionth time tonight, and let out a light chuckle.
"Uh.....it's kind of a long story." He bobbed his head, feeling bad for asking.
"Sorry. I won't push."
"No, no, it's okay. I just...." you took a breath and smiled at him. "I just met you, I don't want to bum you out." you smiled more as he chuckled. "Especially since it looked like you were celebrating something a little bit ago." His smile grew and he looked back at the bar.
"Yeah." he chuckled again as he turned back to you.
"Do you mind me asking, what it is you're celebrating?" He smirked.
"It's kind of a long story." You could tell he was being a smart ass. You looked away from him as you tried not to blush. "No, I um.....I've been out of work for awhile. Pretty much on the brink of being completely broke." Your face fell slightly.
"Well this doesn't sound like something to celebrate." You loved hearing him laugh. You almost got lost in that along with his smile. Come on Y/N, you don't even know this guy, pull yourself together.
"No. No it doesn't, does it?" You leaned back in your chair, giving him a reassuring smile, letting him know he could continue. "But uh, a little earlier today, I got a call. I got an.....well, an interview." Your face lit up.
"That's great! Congratulations!"
"Thank you."
"What's the job?" you couldn't help but notice that he started blushing a little. "What? Are you like a porn star or something?" He broke into laughter.
"No! No, I'm not a porn star."
"Then what is it? Oh, is it like, a job working for the government or something. Something top secret. You know, you could tell me but you'd have to kill me type thing." He laughed more and more as you went on. You joined in, his laugh was contagious.
"No." he was trying to stop laughing long enough to answer you. "No. That would be cool, but no." he took a couple breaths, calming himself. "I uh....I'm an actor, or at least, trying to stay that way. I'm hoping to make it into bigger and better things. But you can only do what comes to you, you know. One little baby step at a time." Your eyes widened slightly.
"An actor?" He hummed in response. "You're hoping to be in bigger things? So does that mean you haven't done much, or...."
"Not really, I guess. I mean, I've been in a couple TV shows. nothing too big though."
"Oh, don't do that. If you've been on TV, that's big. Doesn't matter how big or small of a role it was. It's not easy to get there, and if you've been there, you're a star in my book." you could see him blush again.
"Well, thank you Y/N. That means a lot."
"No problem." you locked eyes with him and within seconds you realized that you were stuck like that. You didn't want to look away. His eyes were so mesmerizing. They just sucked you in.
"Would you two like another drink?" You both snapped out of it to look up at your waitress.
"Uh..." you looked back at Jared, wondering if you should order another one, or if you both were going to call it a night soon.
"Yeah, we'll both have another. Thank you." he gave her a nod as she walked away and another smile grew on you.
"So. Do you know what role you're auditioning for?"
"Um....well it's for a co-star position. Um....I only got a quick description over the phone, they'll be sending me a little bit of the script in the next couple days so I can start memorizing lines for it. But, they said it's about two brothers that travel around the US, hunting down like, demons and ghosts and stuff like that. I think they said it was called....Supernatural, or something like that."
"Two brothers? So are you one of the brothers then, you know being the "co-star" and everything?." you were trying not to melt in your chair as his smile grew.
"I think that's what they meant, yeah."
"That's amazing. I'm really happy for you, and I hope you get it. You deserve it."
"You barely know me. I could be lying to you about all of this." You dropped your head and gave him the "really" look. He couldn't help but laugh.
"Well, I tend to get vibes off of people and I can tell that you, Jared, are a good man, and I believe that you deserve this role more than you think you do." He seemed speechless.
"Thank you. I hope you're right."
"You're welcome, and I am." He dropped his head, looking down at the table as he laughed.
You both sat and talked for a couple more hours, enjoying each others company and a couple more drinks. He found out that you just moved to Austin a couple years ago, and you told him you just needed something new, different.
Otherwise you asked him about the other shows he's been on and you both started trying to predict what Supernatural would be like, creating your own plot lines and stuff. It was a night full of smiles and laughter.
You sat and drank water for the last hour. Even though neither of you drank much to begin with, you both wanted to be sure that you were safe to drive home. So as the two of you decided to call it a night, you both walked out of the bar together. Smiles still plastered to your faces.
"This is me." you pointed to your car, one of the last ones in the parking lot.
"Well, that was a lot fun."
"Yeah. Thanks for the company."
"Yeah, no problem." he chuckled. You both fell silent, not knowing what to say and not really ready to call it a night.
"Well.....good luck on your audition. I really hope you get it." He nodded as he gave you that amazing smile. You turned, beginning to open your door when he stopped you.
"Hey, you know what? I uh.....I don't usually do this, but I really did have fun tonight. I was wondering, would you like to exchange phone numbers?" You froze. You don't know why, but you weren't expecting that.
"You know, so I can keep you updated on the audition. That way if I don't get it, we can come back here and get shit faced." Your shoulders shook as you laughed. "That and, well, I'd like to do this again sometime. Whether I get the job or not." You smirked before you answered.
"Jared, is this your way of asking me out?" His eyes slowly darted everywhere but at you.
"I uh.....I guess it is." Now you were the one that was blushing. You stood there smiling like an idiot for a moment before reaching in your purse, pulling out a pen and a scrap piece of paper.
You ripped it in half and wrote your number down on one of the pieces, then you handed him the other half along with the pen. You studied him while he jotted down his number. He was flawless. You were beginning to wonder why he chose you out of all the girls in that bar.
His eyes never left yours as he handed you back your pen and you both exchanged the numbers. A chill ran through you as his fingers grazed yours.
"Make sure you keep me updated, otherwise I'll hunt you down." you pointed at him as you pulled your door open.
"I will. Don't worry."
"Good." you climbed in your car and shut your door, but you rolled your window down before he walked away. "Thanks again, Jared. It was nice to have someone to talk to tonight."
"Yes it was." Your smile widened and you put the car in reverse.
"Night."
"Goodnight."
He waved as you pulled out of the parking lot and he couldn't help but think, even if he doesn't get the job, he just got lucky in meeting someone new. Someone sweet, beautiful, funny......that almost felt better than getting the job at the moment. He was trying to imagine how he was going to feel if he does land the job. His life was finally starting to look up.
You must be crazy. You're sitting at your desk, where you're supposed to be focused on your school work, and all you can think about is Jared. A complete stranger that you met a little over a week ago.
This is medical school, you shouldn't be day dreaming, but that seems to be all that you've been doing lately. You looked up when your friend nudged your arm.
"Hey? Are you doing okay?" she looked concerned. She knew it wasn't like you to not focus. This was your dream. You were going to become a doctor, help people, something that you've always wanted to do. Your dad always helped people and you saw how happy it made him. You wanted to be just like him.
"Uh....yeah. I'm good."
"You sure? You've seemed pretty....distracted the last couple days."
"Yeah. A little bit." you nervously chuckled as you looked up at your professor.
"What's going on?" You looked back to her and sighed. You parted your lips, all ready to tell her when you were cut off.
"Ladies!? Am I interrupting something?" Your head snapped back to your professor.
"Uh...no Mr. Wells. Sorry." He nodded a couple times before going back to his lesson. You started jotting down notes when your friend slid a piece of paper over onto your desk. You glanced at her before looking down at the note.
You need to spill after class. We'll go grab some coffee or something.
You smiled as you looked back up at her. You gave her wink, your way of telling her that her plan sounded good. Then you tried your hardest to focus for the rest of the class, which wasn't easy.
