"You didn't have to come." You said folding your arms over your chest in annoyance. It wasn't your first hunt, and it certainly wasn't your first one alone. Dean flashed you that stupid charming grin and it took you back to when you were both teenagers. It seemed like so long ago. He'd been a part of your life since you were just a kid jumping off of Junky cars at your Dad's salvage yard. Uncle John started coming around more and more often dropping Sam and Dean off and then leaving sometimes for weeks at a time. You and Dean were the same age and had gotten pretty close over the years. You watched him grow up as he'd watched you turn into the powerful and beautiful woman you were now.
"Oh come on now, I couldn't let you have all the fun by yourself." He responded, that cheeky sarcasm flowing through his smooth voice, half the time you couldn't tell if you wanted to punch him or kiss him. "Besides, we used to hunt together. It'll be like old times."
"I wouldn't call it hunting..." You answered, your voice drifting off. Like old times...It was November in Sioux Falls, and it was a memory so crisp and clear in your mind that you could still smell the Autumn air bitter and cold with the first hints of winter. You could still hear the crunching of leaves underfoot as you and Dean snuck through the trees as deep into the wild back drop of South Dakota as you could, relying only on your senses to get you home when the night inevitably turned on you. You and Dean were both armed with a shotgun and a bag of M&M's and nothing else. You'd sworn you'd heard the rustling and grumblings of something unnatural and set your mind that you were going to hunt it down. Dean tried to convince you not to but you were your father's daughter, and once your mind was set, there was no changing it. So you packed up and set out on your own, Dean in tow reluctantly, saying he'd feel bad if he let you go on your own. He held your hand as you walked all boyish smiles and emerald green eyes on fire with mischievous innocence. He was your first love.
The day stretched on and by the time the sun was starting its descent you'd forgotten almost entirely why you were out there, lost in each other's eyes as you darted through the trees playing a game of tag that ended with his soft full lips against yours, you'd committed the way the freckles on his face looked in the dying light of that November day to memory. Your first kiss.
"Dean... Promise me something?" You asked, lacing your fingers in his. He kissed your knuckles, pulling you close. He was like a dream, tall and beautiful, and yours. In all the madness of the world, for all the terrors you'd yet to see, you knew in your soul that Dean Winchester was yours.
"Anything." He whispered, his voice low, and soft, and only for you.
"Promise that you'll take me with you..." You asked softly, you knew what the life of a hunter was like, but you were young, and your rose colored glasses weren't yet as jaded as they would be. You were determined that you and Dean could beat the odds. He smiled at you, that sweet, charming, boyish smile and kissed you.
"I promise." He said.
Weeks later John came back and got him and Sam, you didn't see them again for months. They came around less and less as we grew older. Things between John grew strained as it became clear that they both had a different idea of what they wanted out of life. The pressure rested on Dean's shoulders who always came back for you.You climbed out of his Impala, armed and ready as you took careful steps, your boots colliding with the hallow bridge with echoing thuds. You zipped the front of your leather up high to your neck, the air freezing and biting at your exposed skin mercilessly. The wind whipped around you with enough force that it made holding your aim difficult.
"This where she took the swan dive?" Dean asked as he leaned over the rails in the center of the bridge, you stepped up behind him, giving him a quick, light shove as if to knock him over the rails. He gripped the rail tight and gasped, relaxing after a moment then cutting his eyes in good humor at you. "You better watch out or it'll be you in the drink next." He teased.
"Ooh, I'm so scared Winchester." You snarked back, he grinned and slung an arm over your shoulders as you turned away from the railing. He smelled so damn good just like you remembered.
