Everyone was wary as we made our way into the old stone building. Caspian led us all in front of the group and every so often he'd glance back. While he led our band, I brought up the rear, Lucy and Edmund were in the middle while their annoying cousin ran off somewhere. The rest of the Dawn Treader's crew were keeping an eye on the kings and queen.
Sitting in the middle of the room was a pedestal. On top of it lay an open book filled with neat handwriting. Lucy and Caspian read over the book and announced that we were getting closer. As they spoke, I felt something land behind me. Grateful I had my sword instead of my crossbow, I whirled around to block a blow. The clanging of metal caught everyone's attention. They all pulled out their weapons in defence.
"We want no harm." I warned our attackers as they descended from the ceiling.
"No can do." My attacker told me with a sly grin before swinging. I blocked it and the fight began around us. I kicked the sword out of someone's hand and watched as Lucy, Edmund and Caspian fought. Each of them were equipped with their own weapons. Lucy had her sister's bow and the boys had their swords. All three of them were able to fight on their own and we seemed okay.
Until there was a scream from outside. The doors flew open. Standing at knife point was Edmund and Lucy's annoying cousin. The knife blade was at his throat. One slice would kill him quickly. Everyone froze.
I looked at Caspian and my heart nearly skipped a beat in joy. Thankfully, he was okay. Maybe bruised, but we all were. Caspian met my gaze before he looked me over once for any injuries. I nodded to assure him I was okay before slowly making my way towards him.
"Now, if you want anything to happen to this," The man pointed to Eustace with his knife. "I suggest you put down your weapons."
"(Y/N), do it." Caspian told me. As much as I wanted to argue, I knew I couldn't. Like everyone else, I lay my sword on the floor but made sure I stayed near Caspian. Obviously they wanted something, but I didn't know what. And I swore an oath to protect the king.
"Take the girl, the one who screams like one and that one." The obvious leader pointed to Lucy, her cousin and me. His workers grabbed the three of us.
"No!" Edmund and Caspian reached for us but were struck down.
"Caspian!"
"Edmund!" Lucy and I yelled as we were dragged out. We kicked and fought but it was no use.
Especially when they tied our hands and feet. The three of us were dragged away to a group of people who were tied up like us. Then I realised that it was a slave trade. I looked at Lucy and Edmund.
"Both of you, stay behind me." I whispered. They nodded and I moved in front of them. While nobody was paying attention to us, I pulled a knife out of my boot. Thankfully nobody bothered checking on us.
"Do not cut the bindings. Yet." I told Lucy as I slipped the knife into her hands.
"Why not?" Eustace protested. I shot him a look so deadly he closed his mouth. Lucky slipped the knife into her boot and looked at me.
"What are we going to do?"
"Stay calm?" I offered. She nodded and stayed close to her cousin.
"And now, we have this!" The ring leader of the trade dragged Eustace up despite our efforts to keep him with his. I held back Lucy to prevent her from doing anything reckless. Otherwise there would be more trouble.
Then they came for us. They grabbed my arm and pulled me from Lucy. I nodded for her to use her knife and I kicked as I tried to free myself. My foot made contact with one of the trader's shins and he dropped me before another punched me in the stomach. I sucked in a breath and was held tightly.
"Now, this one has a bit of fight in them. But nothing discipline won't fix." The leader announced to the crowd. They laughed and I growled. "Feisty, aren't they?"
Frankly, I was disappointed in the low prices of the bidding. Surely I was worth more. However, I sold and pulled off the stage to be replaced by Lucy. But then there was a familiar voice. And then all hell broke loose. There was a flash of metal and my bindings were cut. I turned to face my bidder who was a part of Caspian's crew.
"Did you think I'd let Caspian's greatest be sold?" He asked. I smiled as I pulled away the bindings. I turned and kicked a trader in the face.
"(Y/N)!" I heard Caspian yell. I turned and he threw a sword and I caught it.
"Can't have you best defenceless, can we?" I asked with a grin. Caspian returned the smile.
"I love you too much." I almost froze at his reply.
"We're talking about this one the boat." I told him.
"I suppose we'll have to!"
"Good! Because I love you too!" I yelled. Then Edmund yelled at us.
"Is this really the time?"
