I've never had many friends. As a kid, I had the occasional play date my mom would set up with her friend's kid that was my age but I always felt different from all of them which is probably why no one ever wanted to talk to me. This past week has been a miracle in my life. I've never had friends and yet I'm running down the stairs- being carried down the stairs- with three awesome guys who all cut class just to hang out with me. I've always wondered what it was like to be a choice in someone's life. What it would be like to get a text from someone asking to hang out with me. I've never been a priority in someone else's life. Correction, a priority that wasn't a burden. And I have to admit, this is the happiest I've felt in years.

"Allie, mate, chill. This isn't even the best thing we have plann-." And with that Ashton holds his arm out and cuts us all off from moving around the corner. Calum sets me down beside him.

"What's happening?" I ask Ashton as he looks around the corner.

"SHHHHH."

"Ash that was louder than me talking." He rolls his eyes and laughs then signals for us to carry on our escape.

"This area is for hospital employees only." We run straight into an middle aged mean looking nurse who scowls at us.

"Right, sorry ma'am, we were just trying to find our class. We're on a field trip." The nurse smiles at Ashton's words.

"Lincoln High? My daughter's here right now also! I'll take you to them right now." The nurse seems really happy to be helping us out now.

"Oh, no, we can find them. Could you just point us in the right direction?" Michael asks, getting annoyed.

"Nonsense! I'd like to  embarrass my little Emily anyways. I'll take you to them right now. Follow me." All of us sigh at once and follow the nurse, unsure of what else to do. Michael comes to my side as the nurse continues to talk about her sweet little Emily.

"Ok so I think if we all just leave one by one she'll be so busy talking about her little Emily that she won't notice." I laugh and the nurse turns around.

"Did I say something funny? I was only saying how proud I was that Emily is in 5 AP classes. It's hard especially balancing school and track but she's managing." I hold back an eye roll and decide to play along.

"Yea, Emily's actually in a few of my AP's. Except for 2 , Psychology and Bio." All the guys look over at me as I shake my head. Nope. Not in that many AP classes. Not in any actually. Don't even go to Lincoln High so not sure why they're even confused. The nurse turns to me and stops in her tracks.

"You're Ivy? Number one in the class?" She scoffs. I nod my head.

"That's me. Pleasure to meet you. Tell Emily I'll be applying for that scholarship too." The nurse looks like she could punch me right now and everyone else is holding back laughter.

"The women in medicine one?" I nod my head and watch as she looks closer and closer to exploding.

"Ok well I think you can find them from here. Just hang two more rights and you should find them. If they aren't there just ask a receptionist." I give the woman a warm smile.

"That was great!" Michael claps through fits of laughter.

"How did you know there was a scholarship?" Ash asks.

"Lucky guess." I smirk. There's always a scholarship.

"Ok where do we go now?" I raise my eyebrows.

"You're the expert of this hospital, I think it's your turn to lead the way." Michael says, looking around, confused as to where we are. I roll my eyes and lead everyone back to the stairs we were just on. Suddenly, as I open the door, Ashton screams "RUN!" I laugh as everyone passes by me and Calum pulls my arm. We run down the stairs, Ashton leading and Calum pulling me ahead. And suddenly, we're out and I'm looking at the hospital from the outside and I'm overcome with a sensation that is hard to describe. I feel like this is where I belong: With these three boys and outside the hospital. It feels amazing to be out of that treacherous place.
