I walk down the corridor, the nurse having unhooked me from my IV so I can enjoy my dinner, when I feel a sudden pang of sadness. I sigh and drag my feet through each hallway and down some stairs until I see the cafeteria.
"Michael!" I wave through the glass that separates the hall from the cafeteria then face palm as I realize Michael and Calum can't hear me. Before I open the door to the cafeteria I see a sign that reads 'get-better-buddy banquet'.
"Shit." I whisper as I realize this is probably gonna be a fancy attire event and because I still haven't gotten clothes from home, I'm wearing a hospital gown. I open the door anyways, hoping that someone else will be in a similar situation as me. Wearing a hospital gown that is. Not having just lost their whole family.
"Welcome!" I am greeted by a dark skinned woman with a big smile on her face. "My name's Monica! I'm so happy you came. What's your name, sweetie?" I feel a little taken aback by her enthusiasm but try and smile back anyways.
"Allie." I mumble.
"Hmm, I can't seem to find an Allie. What's your full name?" The lady asks, never taking her eyes off the pins in front of her.
"Allison Hinge." I mutter.
"Ah, yes. Here we go!" The lady picks up a bright pink pin and lays it in my hand.
"Thanks." I say as I start walking away.
"Wait!" The lady calls me back to the table. "We have a corsage for you." I nod my head and try and smile as the lady rummages through a box under the table. "There." The lady puts the flower around my wrist and I quickly thank her and try to find the table number written on my pin: 13. The gigantic cafeteria is practically empty and I assume I'm just early. I itch the skin around my corsage.
"Fucking itchy ass flower bracelet." I mumble until I hear someone laugh behind me. I turn around and see Luke.
"I'm glad you like the corsage." Luke says with a smile and I roll my eyes.
"What are you guys doing here?" I ask him and then signal to Michael and Calum.
"We're here for your banquet!" Luke says with a smile that shows his dimples.
"That sucks for you guys then. I have to hang out with the person they pair me with all night." I sigh and Luke's shoulders drop.
"Shit. Well if your partner sucks we'll be on the dance floor." I laugh and nod my head.
"I'll be sure not to miss your killer dance moves." Luke shrugs his shoulders with a grin and I say goodbye and walk to find table 13.

"I'm Sadie." A girl introduces herself to me as I sit down and I try and smile at her.
"I'm Allie, are you my partner?" I ask the brunette.
"No, I don't think so. They told me my partner was a red head." I nod my head and look around awkwardly. I've never been good at keeping a conversation going on, especially not with someone I just met.
"I'm gonna go get a drink." I say, avoiding eye contact. Sadie nods her head and I get up and head to the bar.
"Allie! What a treat it is to see you!" I turn around from the bartender to see Richard.
"R-Richard?" I say, taken aback. "Wh-what are you doing here?"
"I checked myself in here! I'm here to meet my get-better-buddy!" His happiness puts me on edge.
"Ok, I'm gonna go now." I say as I grab a water and shivers run down my spine. I feel a hand grasp my wrist and my whole body goes stiff.
"Wait, where are you sitting?" Richard asks with a smile.
