Today is a sad day. Bob was dying and everyone is saying their goodbyes. I hadn't known Bob for a while but I know he didn't deserve this.
Everyone was around about done and we were about to walk out. Sasha and Tyreese were the only ones with Bob. I was hanging around the door way, just about to go when Bob called my name. "Hey k-kiddo"
I turned my head slightly, to see Bob's hand reach out for me. "Hey?"
"What's your name again?" Bob asked me weakly as he turned his head to talk to me.
"Um... Mary, I-I'm sorry this happened to you."
"It's gonna h-happen eventually, eh? I just w-wanted to say, you're a good kid. You should be here w-with these people. They will take care of y-you like they did me. Hell, I bet you'll find the love of you're life here." Bob said referring to Carl.
"Well I don't know. He's so nice and sweet but I can't trust this group. They could kill me like those people."
"T-they were bad people, Mary. They killed people. They ate me! Haha, just stay with them yeah?"
"I'll think about it..." I said with a bit of nervousness in my voice. I don't know if I want to stay. I hate being alone, and Alex and Mason are out there somewhere. "Can I tell you something?"
"Go f-for it kiddo."
"I've killed one person. He was bit. A-and he wanted me to do it. He told me to be a good kid. Face the world. But I can't. I cry everyday for the world. I want there to be a cure. Eugene has it. I know he has. My family is out there. My brother, my best friend. They're out there. I want to find them. Should I go?"
"Haha, well kiddo, i-it's you're family. If they care for you then you should. But stay with these p-people. They'll become you're family if you don't find them. But hey, t-thats just a dead man's opinion." I hugged him and said goodbye. It was sad that he was dying. I don't know why he wanted to talk to me, it's not like I'm special or anything. I'm worthless.
I walked out of the tiny office towards Carl. He smiled at me before I sat down next to him.
"Where did you go?" Carl asked me.
"What? Did you miss me?" I shoved him and laughed.
"Shut it love birds!" Michonne shouted. I blushed a dark shade of pink and I think Carl did too. He's cute when he smiles.
Sasha and Tyreese came out of the office and looked at all of us sadly. We knew that Bob was gone.
Tears started to form in my eyes but non came out. I think my body has had enough of me crying. Like I'm too dehydrated.
~2 hours later~
We had Bob's funeral. It was quite short but was nice. We all put flowers on the grave and proceeded on with the day.
Rosita, Eugene, Abraham, Maggie, Glenn, Tara and I are all going to Washington today. Abraham kept up his end of the bargain so it's our turn now.
I can't wait for the cure to be found. Thanks to Eugene, humanity could be saved again. No more deaths. No more sleeping with one eye open.
I was saying goodbye to everyone. But I had to talk to Rick and Carl.
I went up to Rick first. " Hey um, Rick? I just wanna say sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you."
"Don't worry about it, Mary. Everyone has secrets." Rick smiled.
"And um... It was because he was bit. It was only a few days ago. I hadn't got over it. My Uncle Chris. My brother and my best friend are out there."
"Oh well, I'm sorry to hear that."
"How can I earn my keep?" I asked deligently.
"You already have. Taking care of Bob. Helping out with Judith. And making Carl happy."
"Well thank you for letting me stay. I'll be back soon." I turned away to talk to Carl. I'm so glad that I'm letting people get to know me. I'm not a people person. Always kinda been shy...
"Carl!" I shouted running up to him. "I just wanted to say goodbye."
"Do you have to go?" Carl said childishly.
"Yeah, I said I would. Plus I'm looking for my brother and my best friend. Ya'know it's important..." I whispered. Carl wrapped his arms around me and I felt safe. And boy did he give good hugs.
"Oh! Before I forget..." Carl digged into his pockets and pulled out a chain plain necklace. It was so pretty but so simple. "Here. I found it a couple of weeks ago at a house. I don't know why I picked it up but here."
"Oh Carl. It's beautiful. Thank you." I cheered happily and gave a him another hug. I put it on and it fitted perfectly. I smiled so much that my cheeks are hurting.
The bus horn sounded and that was my cue to go. "Be safe yeah?" Carl told me.
"Always. See ya Grimes." I said saluting him and running to the bus. I waved him goodbye while I sat next to Tara. He waved back and smiled.
"Cool necklace, Mary." Tara commented. I looked down at my new jewellery.
"I know. Carl gave it to me."
"I told you he liked you!" Glenn smirked but that soon stopped when I slapped the back of his head.
Abraham was driving and Rosita was behind him. Eugene sat across from me and Tara and Maggie and Glenn sat in front of us.
It was nice. Me and Tara were playing 21 questions.
"Have you ever had a boyfriend?" Tara asked me and I shook my head no.
"Relationships are bullshit." I said to Tara and everyone looked at me as if to say 'We don't believe you' "What?"
"You've never had a relationship?" Maggie asked me in disbelief.
"Nope."
"Mary, we know you're lying." Rosita said from the front.
"Fine! Okay! Okay, I did have a fling I guess. When I was 14." Everyone looked at me in shock and amusement. Especially Glenn.
"Tell us the details!" Tara said ecstatically.
"Okay, his name was Ollie. He was nice. Sweet guy. He was 15 when we started going out. He told me loved me but that obviously wasn't true. He cheated on me with this slut that's now dead." I got shocked expressions until I realised why. "Oh no! I didn't kill her. She got bit a while back."
"I'm sorry about that Mary. Did you love him?" Maggie asked me.
"I guess so. He was my first love. Well I didn't know what love was." I chuckled.
"Oh shit." Abraham said from the front which got all of our attention.
"'Sup Abraham?" I shouted standing up.
"Fucking tank's ran out of gas that's what." And that's when we came to a stop.
"You didn't pick any up?" Tara asked him but Abraham said that it wasn't his job. It was Eugene's.
"I'm sorry! I didn't know where to find some!" Eugene whimpered.
Well that's great! We're stuck in the middle of nowhere without gas or something to keep us going.
