We have been walking for hours since the bus broke down. Glenn and Maggie haven't been apart since. Tara and Eugene were walking together and Abraham and Rosita were too. I was walking on my own, just thinking. Maggie is talking about the rest of the group. When they're coming and what not. Daryl and Carol have been missing for a few days so the group stayed behind to find them then they will come too.
What happened to Alex and Mason? Are they even alive? And what about my other group. Sure, I haven't seen them in over a year but it still doesn't mean that I don't care about them.
Tara went over to talk to Rosita and Abraham so I took my chance to talk to Eugene. "Hey Eugene?"
"Hello Mary. What can I help you with?"
"Can you tell me about the cure?" I said sheepishly. I'm not being nosey at all I just want to imagine my future.
"It's classified." Eugene said grumpily as he kept his eyes on the ground.
"Please Eugene! I need to know. Like how long will it take?" He just kept walking until I nudged him to answer.
"Depends on how many possible deaths has been throughout this time period." He said quickly, shuffling around a bit."Well anything else?"
"It's classified."
"Fine whatever. What about the hair? Anything you can tell me about that?" I said with a smirk.
"'Cause I like it. The smartest man I ever met told me that he thought my hair made me, and I quote, 'look like a fun guy.'"
I just laughed. It was funny that he thought his mullet looked cool. Because seriously, it looked gross.
"Hey, look!" Tara shouted pointing to a library. It was starting to get dark so we needed a safe place to rest for the night.
We managed to get in only killing a few Roamers.
All of us made little rooms from the bookcases. Glenn and Maggie are sharing, Tara and I are, Eugene on his own and Abraham and Rosita.
I was looking for paper to burn for the fire when I came across some superhero comics that I loved before the world ended. Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman, everything! I packed them in my rucksack along with my supplies and kept looking around for stuff to burn. Some old books will do. I ripped the pages out and carried them over to where Tara was.
Somehow Tara had managed to find a can of soup for the both of us to share. It wasn't much, but enough. We placed it on the coat hangers we used for the heating mat and waited for it to warm up.
"So how long is this trip gonna be?" I asked Tara. I was missing Carl. I didn't want to be gone for long.
"About a day or two. Depending if we stop or not." Tara said, getting the warmed up soup from the fire. Tara offered it to me first but I declined because I wasn't hungry.
"I'm going to sleep." I mumbled. "Night."
"Night Mary."
~the next day~
I woke up earlier than everyone else. Nobody was awake. I thought I would take my chance to do a little sight seeing.
I packed my rucksack and made sure I had all of my weapons and ammo. I wrote a note on some paper that read: 'gone on a run. Be back soon Mary x' and stuck it on Eugene's forehead. He's a really heavy sleeper.
I made my way out the door silently and ran across towards a supermarket.
This town must of had it good considering there's a lot of food and supplies left.
I grapped a bag and stuffed some cans in there. I found a gun and I knife and put that in my back pocket.
The next aisle, I saw a walker stuck underneath a shelve that had fallen down. I stabbed it in the head and looked around for some other things I could find.
After I had emptied the shop I walked around the town for a while. There was nothing really useful until I turned a corner and found a fire truck.
I ran towards it and looked at the gas monitor. It was full and it had some extra in the back. This is what we needed.
I ran back to the library to see everyone up and running. "Hey guys I found something that's kinda amazing! Come on!" I ran out the door with the rest following me.
I got to the fire station and everyone was astounded. "Ta da! It's full with Gas and has more in the back."
"How did you find this?" Maggie asked me as she walked towards the big red truck.
"Just looking around and I found it. You're welcome by the way."
Tara gave me a fist bump and Glenn gave me a high- five.
"Good work, kid. Let's go!" Abraham grinned which was very rare.
Eugene and Abraham jumped into the front while the rest of us in the back. The truck started roaring with success and we all cheered. "About time something was going our way." Abraham said happily.
We started moving for about 4 seconds when it came to a stop. "God damn it!" Abraham shouted angrily. This guy can change his expression very fast.
We all jumped out. "Well I guess we'll have to find another ride." Glenn said leaning against the truck.
"If there was another ride in this shit town we'd had seen it." Abraham said hitting the truck.
"Mary did you see any other cars?" Glenn asked me.
"No. It's deserted. Not a damn thing." I answered sorrowfully.
We all stood in silence trying to think of a plan when a tire burst out from the fire station entrance. After that a dozen Roamers came out. We all grapped our weapons, panicking.
One came up to me and I stabbed it in the skull. Two came over but my knife was stuck. I only had my gun but I can't use that or it will trigger the rest. So, I kicked the walker in the knee and it fell down. I stomped on its head until I knew it was dead. The other one had grapped me but my shoulders, trying to bite them. It had me pushed against the wall so I couldn't move. I tried shoving it back but I wasn't strong enough. I was pushing and pulling until the Walker was stabbed in the head by Maggie. I nodded for thankfulness and continued killing the rest.
There was too many. We couldn't take down all of them. We tried though.
I stood for a while getting my breath back before starting again. Only, I didn't have to. Eugene had it covered with the hose from the fire truck. It was so strong that it knocked down most of the walkers. I was shocked and so was everyone else. Who knew Eugene was capable of doing that?
All of us was soaking wet.
"I've been to two Goat farms and three rodeos and I've never seen anything like that before." Abraham cheered Eugene while he just smirked.
"Did you get any dry clothes on your run?" Glenn asked me, trying to dry his hair.
"Only a few shirts. Girls only. But there is a Good Will a few blocks from here." I suggested. I pulled out a over sized grey shirt, a black cookie monster shirt and a flannel and threw it to Maggie, Tara and Rosita. For me I had a black faded flannel shirt to wear.
"Nah. Let's move on. I'll fix up the engine in two shakes and we'll be going." Abraham said, climbing on top of the truck. He stopped and looked at the ground below him and started laughing like a mad man. We all looked were he was looking and it read 'sick inside let them die.'
"What? This shit is screwed up!" Abraham laughed and continued to fix the truck.
