Saturday came around, and I was getting ready for the party at my house. I still lived with Natsu and Lucy, my parents. I was extremely frustrated at the moment; I couldn't find anything to wear. I don't know why I cared so much, but I did. After a long time of looking I just ended up putting on a pink dress and a black jacket.
I checked the clock, which said '6:30 p.m.'. Plenty of time to spare.
Closing the door, I headed for the Redfox house.
***
This must be the place.
In front of me was a huge mansion, with at least two stories and completely covered in snow. It would look like a haunted house if the white powder wasn't covering it. Stepping forward, I knocked on the door. Not even a minute later, Levy answered the door.
"Nashi!" She said happily. I noticed that her stomach has a large bulging to it, but I didn't question as she continued. "Your mother got her a little while ago to help set up. Care to come in?"
I nodded, stepping in. The whole house seemed to be filled to the brim with people, mostly guild members but some of them I didn't know. I spotted Fay Strauss, and walked over.
She was talking to Huojin Redfox. Fay's usual blonde pigtails were switched to a high bun that rested dangerously in the middle of her head. She wore a short green dress, and questioned how she didn't get frostbite in the snow wearing that on the way here.
"Hey," I waved. Huojin smiled, tousling his hair backwards.
"Hello, Nashi. Like the party so far?" He asked genuinely.
I shrugged. "I just got here. Hey, have you seen Storm or Camilla anywhere?" I asked, turning my head and looking around me.
"Yeah, I think they're outside on the back porch." Huojin said, pointing over my head. "Make a left, another left, look ahead and you'll be there."
"Thanks." I said. The Redfox house was a maze. I had to constantly running into strangers who looked at me like I was vermin. Damn it, I thought. Where is the freaking back porch?
I found it. There was no door there, it was just open to nature. The sun was already down being that it is winter, and a cool breeze was coming in. I saw Camilla and Storm chatting quietly outside, whispering so nobody heard them. I stepped silently on the pavement. I've learned not to eavesdrop, but they seemed way too suspicious and I needed to know what was going on.
"You gotta tell her," Camilla said almost inaudibly. "It's not right for us to keep secrets like this."
"Why do I have to do it?" Storm asked.
Camilla smiled. "Because she loves you. And it will go over much better if you tell her."
Storm's pale face filled with blush, and he replied. "I-If she loves me, it will go over badly if she knows the secret anyway!"
"Hey, guys."
I saw them jump as I spoke, not expecting me. They both weren't very good at hiding their fear and worry, but I continued. "What are you guys doing?"
"Nothing!" Storm answered much too soon, and it was as if I could see him mentally facepalm himself for it.
Without any warning, they both walked back inside. I looked after them, pulling my hair back as the breeze blew it around. I was beyond interested, for I had been piqued.
What the hell was going on...?
