Paralysis

"Go!" A voice shouted. "Nashi, run!"

I seemed to be frozen on the ground, not sure of what was happening in front of me. I saw a person, that I could comprehend. I knew the person. But what the mage was fighting, using their snow magic, I wasn't sure.

"Nashi, get the hell out of here!" The voice screamed at me. Everything was a dizzy haze, and I couldn't focus. I saw the best they were fighting at last.

Tall and towering, it looked like a giant slug. But it certainly wasn't as helpless as a slug, as it was shooting acid at the snow mage, and they were narrowly avoiding each blast. My vision was hazy and I couldn't see the details in anything that met my eyes.

I was picked up off the ground. I couldn't see who or what had lifted me, but I could hear grunting and leaves shuffling from behind us, and as soon as my vision focused, I saw the slug monster thing, and it was extremely close to catching us.

I was set gently on the ground, and the person who had carried me screamed, "Camilla!" And another person with a long purple braid ran from nearby bushes and began to fight the creature. I swear I knew them... but who were they? I could almost hear the adrenaline in their veins as they fought.

I felt helpless. I would get up and help if I could! I tried moving my arms, and they were frozen, as if I had no control of my limbs any more.

My eyes drifted towards the one who had carried me. A boy, unruly black hair and blue eyes and pale skin. He shot snow at the monster, but it didn't seem to have much effect on the slug-worm-creature. The girl, very tall with a long purple braid, levitated slightly into the air and her simple armour changed to a much more complex one. Several shining swords swirled around her with a white aura.

She screamed, and all the swords shot at the monster. And with a huge roar, it exploded. Gross slime went everywhere; it landed on me and I wasn't able to wipe it off me. Gross!

I heard the two people talking, and they walked back to me. The girl was back in her regular clothing and clean, but the snow wizard was stuck covered in goo.

"Nashi?" The girl looked down at me on the ground.

I could hardly move my mouth to speak. "'hat's your nae again?" I couldn't produce the 'w' or 'm' syllables in my current situation.

"What happened to her?" The girl asked the boy.

"She was pricked." The boy answered, turning back to me. "Nashi, you remember us, right? It's Storm and Camilla, and we're your friends. Remember us now?"

"Ye'." I mumbled.

Camilla tapped on Storm's shoulder. "What do you mean she was pricked?"

"I studied Fidi worms a little bit before we went on the mission." Storm explained. "They have tiny spikes on their exoskeleton, and they can shoot them out if they feel provoked. I guess Nashi provoked them somehow. But their evolving thing that just happened... that wasn't explained. I think it's just the whole demon island thing that effected their exterior state."

Camilla laughed. "You sound like Huojin." She looked down to me. "What do the spikes do to those who get shot?"

"Nothing severe. Just numbness, temporary paralysis, and temporary memory fog." Storm said smartly. I could just imagine him as if he were Huojin Redfox, Fairy Tail's nerd. I giggled slightly as I pictured him wearing Huojin's glasses and yelling at Pythios.

Storm picked me up again. Camilla and him began to speak, but some of the words were lost in the foggy haze that was my mind at the moment. "We should probably... hall, maybe... can fix... mind will be...."

Next thing I know, we are in the guild hall. I'm fine now; my brain haze and paralysis went away. I got up from where I had been laying down (I had no idea who had put me there or why I was on the floor...) and stretched my limbs. I was starving.

As soon as I even had that thought, Virgo popped up out of nowhere and gave me what looked like a turkey leg. I ravenously ate it. The best thing about celestial food is that you could eat the entire thing but it would never be completely done, as it regenerated.

"Hello, princess." Virgo smiled.

My mouth was stuffed full of turkey. "Thank you-- Virgo!"

And she disappeared, as I took my turkey leg and walked over to where my team was sitting. They were delved deep into conversation, but I sat down anyway.

"I see you're better, Nashi." Camilla grinned.

"Yep. But when I woke up on the dirty floor--" As I said that fragment of sentence, Storm instantly had a guilty look on his face. I laughed. "Storm! You could have at least set me on a table!" I playfully punched his shoulder.

That exact moment right there, I remembered I had been mad at him and Camilla. But I hid my emotions, trying to start our original friendliness back up again. It had been so long since we'd all been happy around each other... I missed it dearly.

"So, when are we going to go back to kill the Fidi worms?" I questioned. "We left in the middle of our mission, and that's sure to dock our pay from it."

Storm shrugged lightly. "It doesn't really matter. But I think we should return when there isn't a full moon. That's when the island curse is at it's highest. We were stupid to go then. Heh."

We chatted for a while, and I admit I was elated to be able to speak to my friends again in a positive way. I was still pissed at them, don't get me wrong. But feelings aside, I missed their company extremely.

"Let's go finish the job tomorrow," We all agreed on my comment as I said this.

Camilla laughed. "Yeah, when the Fidi worms are normal again."
