Sadness, Seething, and Secrets

The next day, I sat in the guild hall at the bar. My fingers were restlessly tapping the wooden table loudly, my nails ended up breaking in result. Mirajane showed up on the other side of the bar, cleaning out a beer tankard. "Hello, Nashima. What's got you so stressed?"

"Oh, it's nothing." I looked around, to see if anyone is around. "Can I get a beer?"

Mirajane giggled. "You're a bit young, but then again, Cana was already a full on alcoholic at your age. So, sure, if you want one here you go." She poured beer into a glass and handed it to me. As soon as I got it in my hand, someone sat down next to me.

I looked up and saw my mother.

"Hey, dear." Lucy said, smirking. "I see you are drinking beer."

I took a fairy large sip from the tankard. "Yeah? Please don't be mad. I'm going through a lot right now, and it would only be worse if you were mad at me or got me in trouble."

My mother smiled at me. "I don't mind. Hey, Mira?" She turned to Mirajane. "I'll take one as well." My mother and I sat in silence for a while, as I drained my cup.

"Hey, Nashi, I heard that your group is going on another mission later. How about you go join them?" She smiled, looking at me with a genuine face.

"But something happened between me and them, especially Storm." I said, I didn't at all feel like explaining what happened.

Lucy nodded. "I know what happened at the party, I was there. Nashi, it will all blow over eventually. Come on! You know you want to go on that mission, and you need to earn some jewels before you go broke. You're not an adult yet, but your father and I aren't giving you money any more."

"Fine..." I said hesitantly. "Thank you, Mom."

"No problems, dear." She replied, then went into a conversation with Mirajane. I saw Camilla standing in the guild doorway, and walked up to her.

As soon as I got to her, Storm came from the other side. "Ready to go, Camilla? Oh... hello, Nashima." Storm glared at me. I felt my blood boiling in fury. Why am I suddenly the bad guy!? He and Camilla are the ones keeping a secret from me, about me, and it's only natural that I want to know what it is.

"What are you doing here?" Storm asked me.

"Because..." I gave the boy I cold glare, and continued. "I'm on this team. I heard you guys chose a job... what did you pick?"

Camilla picked nervously at her nails. "We chose Fidi worm hunting on Galuna Island. The offerer was willing to give us 100,000 jewel, so we chose it."

"Great! Shall we go?"

Storm's face was blank. "Yes."

We left the guild hall, not speaking to each other, except Camilla's occasional murmuring to Storm. I was so pissed off, my hands clenched until my knuckles were white and my teeth gritted together. They acted like I wasn't there, as the three of us walked to the docks where we'd depart for Galuna Island.

I am going to figure out the secrets.
