Askew

I see him.  In the middle of gathered friends and family, I see him.  This is the first party in...years.  Since the death of his beloved Rosamund, nothing has been the same.  Drunkenly, he has told me he blames himself for her death.  What was he, an untitled man, doing with a duchess?  He had no business and furthermore, she belonged to someone else.

He puts on a good show, but it will only be a matter of time before young Juliette notices.

For tonight, I watch as he pushes the pain away and convinces the world of his recovery.
