March 18, 1985

You won't believe what happened! Marty came to visit me today! I had a day off from work today. Jim's been with the boys the past few months on tour. I stayed behind to keep things organized. I was in my apartment just cleaning up a little. The windows were open to let the fresh air in. The phone rang so I picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Dahlia, it's me, Marty."

"Marty!? Oh my god, how are you?"

"I'm great, how have you been? New life in London, huh?"

"Yea, it's been great over here. Wait, how are you calling me aren't you in New York?"

"I don't know, I must have great signal I guess." He laughed. "Hey, I sent you a gift about two weeks ago, did you get it?"

"No, I haven't gotten it yet."

"Oh, that's weird. What time is it there?"

"2:30 in the afternoon."

"Check the front door it might be there by now."

"Alright, stay on the line."

"Okay" I walked to the front door. "I wonder what you got me." I giggled. I opened the door. It was a surprise, alright. Marty was standing right outside that door. He smiled and hung up his phone. I cried out his name and jumped on him. We hugged each other really tight. "What are you doing here?"

"I just thought I'd see my best friend again. It's bee so long, almost two years."

"I know, I know. Come inside, i'll make you something." He stepped inside the apartment. He looked around.

"You have a really nice place here."

"Thanks. Do you want anything?" I asked him. "Or if you want we could go to a restaurant somewhere."

"I would love that. I want to see more of London."

"I'll show you around more."

We went to a diner around the corner. We both ordered a hamburger and a lemonade. We used to order these back at home. It was like old times. He gave me a cigarette and lit it up for me. He did the same thing for himself.

"So, how's film school? You never told me about that, you jerk!" I laughed

"I know, I was going to tell you but it just never came up. It's so great. I love it. It's my second year. Two  more to go." he laughed. He took a puff of his cigarette.

"That's so great, Marty. I'm really happy for you."

"Come on, my life isn't as great as yours. You work for a big record company. Even more, you work for the manager of Queen!"

"I know, and you love Queen so much."

"Exactly! Have you met them?"

"Marty, like you said, I work for the manager of Queen. Of course I've met them." I took a bite into my hamburger.

"Is Freddie as great as everyone says he is?"

"He's amazing. You'd love him."

"I already do." He laughed.

"They just came back from a tour they were on. They have a concert in July. The Live AID concert."

"I've been hearing about that. Everyone's saying it's going to be pretty big. I wish I could go. All of my favorite bands and singers are going to be there."
