Skylar and I are in London. We are going to stay here for three weeks. She's really excited about it too. When I told her she spread a smile across her face. Marty can't go because he's filming a movie and can't miss any days, and Tony is still a little too young to go on a plane. So it's just me and Skylar. She's so happy she gets to see Roger again. They have a very close connection, not that I'm that surprised, but I guess since she doesn't know the truth, it is a little bit surprising.
When we went through all of the check out stations in the airport, we walked to the front and waited for Roger to pick us up. We are staying at his home. He said there was tons of room for us there. I held on to Sky's hand. She looked around for him too.
"Is he coming?" She asked
"Yes, we just have to wait a little, the traffic gets crazy here." I told her.
"I wanna see Roger." She whined.
"Just wait a little." About five minutes later, Roger pulled up to us. He got out of the car. Everyone saw him and freaked out. Cameras started to flash. He came up to us and hugged us both. He helped us put our luggage in the car. We got in the car, but he delayed a little when he began to sign a few autographs. When he was finally done he back inside the car. We drove off.
"Sorry about that, you know how crazy it gets" He chuckled.
"It's alright" I said
"How was your flight?" He asked
"It was good. It was a little long but not too bad." I said
"It was soooo long, Roger." Skylar said
"Was it? I don't think it was that long." Roger joked.
"It was! I ate so many cookies on that plane."
"How many?"
"I don't know, I didn't count."
"Did you eat fifty?"
"No" she began to laugh.
"How about one hundred?"
"No!" She giggled more.
"Well, I'm glad you both arrived safely. How have you both been?"
"Everything's been the same." I began. "Nothing really changed. Well except Marty is filming a new movie."
"That's wonderful" He said. "How about the little one?"
"Tony's doing very well. He's babbling more now. He turns one in July."
"They grow so fast" He said.
"Yea they do. How about your kids, Roger?"
"Yea, how are Felix and Rory doing?" Skylar asked
"They are doing very well." He laughed. "And they are very excited to see you again."
"I am too." She giggled. We arrived at his home about thirty minutes later. It was enormous and elegant. We got out of the car. Skylar looked up and around her. She seemed amazed. Roger took out our luggage. I helped him. We followed him to the front door. We walked inside. The ceilings were high and everything was in order.
"Follow me I'll take you to your rooms." He said. We followed him upstairs. The room he had us stay in was beautiful. Perfect for just me and Skylar. "I'll just let you two settle down and maybe you'll meet Debbie later on?"
"I would love that" I said. He nodded. He walked out of the room and closed the door. I unpacked our stuff. Sky laid on the bed singing to herself. After I was finished, we went downstairs. Roger was with Debbie in the living room. They both saw us.
"Debbie, this is Dahlia. She's a good friend of mine. I told you about her." Roger said. He pulled me towards her.
"Hello, it's nice to meet you" I said.
"It's very nice to meet you too" She said.
"This is Skylar, her oldest daughter." Roger continued
"Hello" Sky said. Debbie greeted her back.
"Would you ladies like anything to eat? I'm sure that flight has you exhausted." Debbie said.
"Like you won't believe" I let out a chuckle.
"We have chicken if you'd like"
"That would be perfect." Debbie walked into the kitchen and prepared the meal.
"Where is Rory and Felix?" Skylar asked.
"They went to a birthday party but they'll be back soon." Roger answered. Sky nodded.
We ate and talked for a while. Sky got really tired. I understood, the time change is intense for a kid her age. I was getting tired too. It was already seven pm. It's eleven am back home. I tucked her into bed. I caressed her cheek as she snored softly. I quietly exited the room to go into the bathroom. I did my business and got out. I walked back to my room. Roger quietly called my name. I turned around.
"I just came to say I'm glad you both decided to visit." He said
"Oh no, I'm happy I came back. It's good for Sky to try new things, even if its long ass plane rides." We both laughed.
"She's fast asleep" He said.
"Yea, she's really tired. She was really excited to see you again."
"She was?" He smiled a little.
"Yea she was."
"I'm so glad to hear that."
"I should get going to bed I'm really tired" I said.
"Um wait Dahlia, I want to talk you." He said in a lower tone.
"What is it?"
"Dahlia, I can't stop thinking about you." He looked into my eyes. I let out a sigh. "I'm sorry I just can't."
"Roger, it's been six years." I began. "It's been six years, how can you possibly been thinking about me this entire time?"
"Do you want to know how? Because after we broke off, you told me you were pregnant with Skylar, I knew then I wanted to stay with you. And then when you said she didn't make it, I wanted to hold you and comfort you telling you you did a good job trying and did your best. After I found out she was in fact alive, I wanted to spend time with her and you, and tell you how proud I was of you taking care of her, but I wanted to be a part of you life together as a family like how I dreamed we would."
"Roger, even though these years I've been trying to not let Skylar know about you, and trying not to know the truth, I've been having my feelings for you too, but it just can't happen, we've moved on, we're married to other people now."
"Why can't we just-"
"Roger please, I should check on Skylar, I'll see you in the morning." I left him in the hallway. I closed the door behind me. I laid in bed with Sky next to me. It's true: I still have feelings for Roger, they haven't gone away, but I have to move on, and so does he. But him thinking this way and expressing his feelings makes me think it was a bad idea to get in touch with him again.
