Chapter 34: Broken Boy Meets Broken Girl

*Katniss POV*

3 Weeks Later

I guess the word you can use to describe my life right now is..better? Well I guess it has been better. I'm currently not in that stupid hospital anymore so that's good. Peeta has been helping me through a lot, I guess we're just taking baby steps. I still don't know a lot about him but I do know enough. Although, I still don't feel like I can trust him enough. In the back of my mind I can still see the haunting flashbacks that never seem to leave.

I'm supposed to meet up Peeta today. He was going to take me to a surprise place. Is this considered a date? Well I guess not, since we agreed to be friends and nothing more. This is probably just considered as a meetup..no maybe just two friends hanging out and having lunch together. Yeah that's better.

Right now I'm currently getting ready for this..uh hangout. I have on my favorite 5 Seconds of Summer t-shirt with some dark blue skinny jeans and my black converse. I put my hair up in a fishtail braid and pulled some strands out to make it look a but messy. Just as I looked in the mirror my phone buzzed in my pocket. I checked it to see I got a text from Peeta.

Peety Pie💕: ready to go?:)

I notice the name I have saved for him and quickly change it. After a minute I respond.

Me: yep all ready:)

PeetaTheFriend: alright im outside now:)

I look outside my window and see that Peeta is on my doorstep. I go downstairs and open the door.

"Hey Peeta." I call out. He's wearing a black shirt that shows off his muscles and he's also wearing blue jeans. On top of that he's wearing a black leather jacket which makes him look so...okay I know what I'm thinking and I'm not gonna finish that sentence. Was I checking him out?

"Hey Katniss. You ready?"

"Yep let's go."

"We're here." I look up to see that we're in a beautiful meadow, across the meadow is a lake and a little house. For some reason this place seems really familiar.

*Flashback*

"PEETA NO PUT ME DOWN!"
"Alright if you insist." Peeta throws me gently into the lake.I swim the the surface and punch Peeta's arm.

"Ow! Okay calm down I was just messing with you." He laughs and acts like he's hurt.

"Whatever." I scoff and laugh eventually jumping into Peeta's arms and kissing him passionately.

*End of Flashback*

I blink and rub my eyes. What was that? Was that a memory?

"Uh Peeta, this place it seems...familiar." Peeta's eyes widen.

"I-It does?" He stutters.
"Yes really familiar." I shake my head.

"Well we once been here for one of our dates, I didn't think you would remember." He says mumbling the last part. I try not to tell him anything about the memory. I don't want to make him uncomfortable with it.

"Let's go."

After few minutes we get settled and we both sit down and eat the lunch that Peeta brought. This boy makes food that came from heaven! My personal favorite food that he brought were the cheesebuns. They're so good! After we eat we both sit down under a tree and stay in a comfortable silence.

"Peeta?" I ask in a voice so low that it's barely in a whisper.

"Hm." He looks up at me.

"I want to get to know you more, so that I could feel comfortable talking to you. You know?" He smiles.
