Hailey's P.o.v.

The road became our home. Traveling for months. Nine months to be exact. How do I know? Lori's belly is the size of a balloon, she's ready to pop any day now.

Every day for the past nine months we've gotten booted out of houses. Every one was taken over by the dead.

I look out of the car window as we pull up to a small house. We all get out, guns to our hand, ready to pull the trigger if need to. James learned how to shoot. Rick said its for survival, and I agreed. Randal gained our trust, he is now one of us

We entered the house not saying a word. We split up and checked the house high and low. I walk into one of the bedrooms and look around. It had a full body mirror. I walked to it and stared at myself. My hair was ratted and a mess. My bangs were grown out. I look at my body. Over these past few months my body grew. My hips grew and so did my chest. I have more of a figure. Carl grew too. He's a fucking beast. His voice is deeper and he's gotten taller.

As I walked out of the bedroom and into the kitchen I notice the door to the pantry was opened slightly. As I got closer I heard movement. I hold my gun tightly. I swing it open and pointed my gun at the person who was in there.

Carl.

I guess he checked it all.

I lower my gun as I move out of his way. He grabs my hand and we meet back with the group in the living room. Carl and I sit on the floor. He grabs two cans out of his bag and hands me one.

Dog food.

I sigh.

I didn't want to eat dog food, but now a days we don't really have a choice on what we eat. Carl hands me the can opener. Before I even tried to open it Rick grabbed it from my hand and threw it to the wall. I look at Carl who sighs and puts his can on the floor.

We all sit there in silence.

Just like all the other times we found ourselves rushing out of the house. We hurried and grabbed our bags before the walkers reached the house. We got in the cars and drove off just in time. It seemed like no where was safe. It has me thinking about what Carl told me back at the farm, how no where was safe, we have to make it safe. That's true, but how can we make something safe if we can't even keep us safe. Part of living in this world I guess.

Rick drove until we hit a back road. He stopped in the middle of it making the others stop their cars too. We all pile out. I take guard on one side, Carl and Beth take the other.

I look off into the distance. I hear Carl chuckle. I look over at him and see him already looking at me, smiling and biting his lip.

"Hmm..." He hums looking up and down my body. I shake my head and laugh.

"Grimes...you're something."

"Daryl and I are going to go hunting. Carl, you guys can get off watch just be alert."

We got off watch.

"I'm going go see if I can find any berries." I say kissing Carl on the lips.

"Be safe." He says kissing back before I walk off.

I go into the woods and check the bushes. If one doesn't have any berries I move onto the other.

As I examine one I hear a twig snap. I become alert. I stand slowly but go back down when I realize it was nothing. A twig snaps again but before I can react I get knocked completely on the ground. I go to scream but I'm stopped by a pair of lips.

It's Carl.

I kiss back within the kiss. He slowly pulls away and looks me in the eyes. His beautiful blue eyes. He kisses my neck and suckes softly. A moan escapes my lips.

All this is new to us. Never before have we done this. I love Carl and I've always been attracted to him, but this attraction felt different. It felt like a physical attraction. He moved from my neck to my lips again.

Carl's hands went down my waist to my butt. He squeezed slightly. I broke the kiss and moved his hand off.

"No." I say trying to get up. He stops me with his body. I gave up and laid back down.

"Please." He begs.

"No...not here."

He sighs and lets me sit up.

"We've been talking about it." He says. I nod.

"I know baby, but now isn't the right time. We have no protection a-and I don't think I'm ready."

"Hailey, I'm sorry. I don't know what got into me. I'm not ready either, it's just when I see you my body gets crazy. I mean I've gotten crazy all the other times I've seen you, but this time it's different."

I grab Carl's cheeks.

"You don't have to be sorry. I understand. I get attracted to you in another way too. I mean we're older and our bodies are different."

He nods.

"You're right. You're always right." He smiles.

"Hailey, when we do it. I want it to be perfect."

Before I could speak we were called by Rick. We ran to the road we once where.

"We found a prison. Let's go."

A prison!? A safe place!?

I give Carl a big smile. We hurry into our cars and drive to it. We park by a gravel road. My eyes grow wide as I see how big it is.

"We can have a life here!" I say excited.

It's big and safe, we can make this ours. We can make this safe.

"Yeah, but first we have to clear the walkers."

Then there's the walkers...
