Chapter 46

|Hailey's p.o.v|

··Same day; early afternoon··

"Hailey.."

My eyes open to Carls soothing voice. "What?" I ask smiling at the sight of his face. He smiles too.

"I just wanted to wake you up, its some time in the afternoon."

Carl and I must have fallen asleep when we got back from the showers. I sit up and rub my eyes.

"I should go see Beth now." I say standing up and pulling my hair up into a pony tail. Carl nods, "Want me to come with?"
I shake my head as we walk to the front of the library. "I'll go on my own."

"Okay, I love you." Carl says kissing me gently. I kiss back and smile. "I love you too."

I walk out of the library and down to where Beth is.

I really hope this all blows over and we're all okay. I wonder how Randall is doing, I just don't want him to tell Beth what we did without me. That would suck if he did.

I reach the room where Beth and Randall are held up in and I hear low sobs. It sounds like Beth.

I knock and wait for a response, but I don't get one so I speak up.

"Beth are you okay?"

The crying stops and I hear Randall begin to speak but she cuts him off. What the hell?

"Beth?" I ask. "G-Go away and take Randall with you."

Beths voice was horse and it sounds like she's been crying for hours. Did he tell her?...no, no he wouldn't.

"D-Don't you want your boyfriend with yo-"

"Ex." She cuts me off. "Exboyfriend."

"N-No Beth, please." I hear Randall say. "No Randall, its over." She whispers but loud enough for me to hear from out here.

"Randall, you told her?" I ask in disbelief. He didn't say anything and by that little stretch of silence I knew he told her.

"How could you?" I ask. "How could you!?" I scream. Beth opens the door and all I wanted to do was hug her, but all she did was push Randall out and slammed the door.

"Beth no please! D-Don't do this!" I yell. "I-I wanted to tell you, I did! B-But the sickness broke out and I just couldn't. We were waiting to tell you once this blew over. We wanted to tell you together." I say, but nothing I could say would fix the mess we created. "Beth open the door!" I scream.

I had enough. My breath became heavy and my chest tightened. I banged on the door begging her to open up.

"Beth! I'm sorry! It was a mistake, Beth please!" I scream tears pouring down my face as I bang on the wooden door. Randall didn't try to stop me, he was hurt but deep down he wanted to put up a fight like I was.

"No Hailey, what was a mistake was letting you in. Letting you be a part of my family was a mistake."

My heart dropped and more tears overlapped the drying ones on my cheeks.

"Y-You don't mean that, don't say that." I cry.

"Goodbye Hailey."

By this time I decided to give up. Not give up on trying to regain Beths trust back, but give up on her trying to open the door.

I sigh and turn around, walking to my next destination. Randall was quick to follow.

"Hailey..."
