Hailey's P.o.v.

We geared up and ran across the outer field. There's no way in unless we cut a hole in the gate, so thats what we did. We hurried in and patched the gate up. We ran up a gravel road and came face to face with a chained door leading into a court yard.

"Okay, I want Carl and Hailey on one guard tower. Daryl take the second one. Hershal and Carol go on the other one. The rest of you stay here and attract walkers." Rick orders

"Who's going to run to the gate that's bringing them in?" Glenn asks.

"I'll run for the gate." Rick says.

I look at James and smile.

"You know you've gotten taller." I say. He smiles.

"Go and kick some walker butt!"

I laugh as he gives me a fist bump.

Lori opens the gate and we run to our places quickly. We take down walkers as Rick gets to the gate. He shuts it than runs up one of the guard towers. We finished picking the walkers off that were in the court yard.

The rest of the day consisted of burning bodies and bringing the cars in. By the time we got that all done it was night and we were all tired.

We had a blazing fire. We ate the owl Daryl cought earlier today.

I take a bite and swallow. It actually isn't that bad. James ate all of his so I gave him some of mine.

"Just like mom used to make." Glenn jokes. I giggle.

Once I was done eating, I layed my head on Carl's lap. He played with my hair.

"Bethy, can you sing Parting Glass for me?" Hershal asks as he finishes his dinner.

I look at James and smile. That was our mothers favorite song.

"No one wants to hear." She says.

"Why not?" I ask. She smiles and begins.

"Of all the money that e'er I had
I spent it in good company
And all the harm I've ever done
Alas, it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of wit
To memory now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be to you all
So fill to me the parting glass
And drink a health whate'er befalls
Then gently rise and softly call
"Good night and joy be to you all" "

I decided to chime in.

"Of all the comrades that e'er I had
They're sorry for my going away"

Then Beth joins back in. I look up at Carl and he's smiling.

"And all the sweethearts that e'er I had
They'd wish me one more day to stay
But since it fell into my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and softly call
"Good night and joy be to you all"" We sing together.

"I didn't think you were the singing type." Rick says handing Lori some owl, but she refuses.

"Well...sometimes I sing. That was my mother's favorite song. We would dance in the kitchen to that song." I say.

James laughs and smiles.

"I remember that."

I sit up and look at him. His lips start to quiver and tears start to fall. I pull him into a hug and hold him.

"I miss her." He whispers.

"Me too."

After the song we all got ready for bed. I lay next to Carl. His arms wrapped around me and my head on his chest. I listen to his heart beat as I fall asleep.
