| Saphire Age 6 |
First Day of Kindergarden!
"Mommy!" I yelled as she tried to pull me into the school building. "I don't wanna go!"
"Come on, Saphire!" my mom said, clearly embarrassed by my tamtrum. I let go of her arm, and stomped my pink rubber boots hard on the concret. Thunder boomed overhead, and I ran into the building, screaming.
My mom rolled her eyes, and followed me into the building. I stood by the doors, waiting for my mom to walk in, when someone tapped on my shoulder.
I turned, and a boy ran off screaming. "Coodies!" he pointed fingers at me, and I crossed my arms.
"I do not have coodies!" I screamed at him. My mom clamped her hand over my mouth, and shushed me.
"Inside voice, Saphire." she warned. I nodded, and she walked me to my class. We stopped infront of the classroom we went to a few days before.
Some lady walked up to me, smiling. "This is..." she looked at my mom before finishing. "Saphire." She bent down so she could look me in the eyes.
"You ready?" she asked. I shook my head no, and hid behind my mom's legs. The teacher laughed, and took my hand in her ice cold one. My mom moved over, so I could walk up to the strange lady.
"I'll pick you up later, Saphire." she said, walking off. I watched her go, and began to tear up. The teacher pulled me into her room, and sat me at a table.
She placed some crayons and a peice of paper infront of me, and I was all better. I picked up a red, and began to draw a flower.
Someone sat infront of me, and I looked up. It was the boy who said I had coodies. I glarred.
"I wouldn't get too close." I warned. "I hear if boys get touched by girls, the coodies will eat their skin!" I nodded my head, and he scooted his chair farther from the table.
"My names Justin." he said in a shakey voice. I gave him a smile.
"Saphire."
He nodded, and reached slowly for a sheet of white paper. I gave him one, and he drew his hand back so fast I didn't see it. I rolled my eyes, and placed it infront of him, along with a pink crayon.
"I hate pink!" he whinned.
"Too bad." I said. "I'm using the rest."
"Pinks a girly color!" he whinned again. "I want blue!" The teacher walked over, handing him some crayons. He stuck his tounge out at me, and I glarred.
"Fine." I said. "I have crayons too."
"Fine!:" Justin said, crossing his arms. He pulled one out so he could color the top of the paper dark blue.
We finished our drawings, and then it was circle time. We all gathered on the rug with letters around the edges. Justin sat next to me, and I couldn't help but smile.
"Hello, class." the teacher said. "How about we get to know each other?" she gave us all big smiles. "My name is Miss. Rachel. And that's Miss. Megan." she pointed to the lady in the back, ruffling papers. She gave us a small wave before returning to her work.
"Now." Miss. Rachel started. "Everyone get in groups of two." she clapped her hand, and Justin grabbed my hand. I gave him a look, and he smiled.
"Now." Miss Rachel said again. "You have to ask your partner three questions." I looked at Justin, so he could start.
"You first." he said. I nodded.
"My names Saphire." I started. "My favorite color is the rainbow...and I like to color." I nodded. "Your turn."
