Durning the middle of the night when Ashara was asleep beside Horas she heard him whinny and then crunch of hay coming towards her, closer, closer. She shot up and saw a man about the pluge a dagger into her. The hooded man and Ashara brawled and she knew who to shout for.
"Dand, Dand," she screamed.
"Shut up, you scranny ass," the man spoke through gritted teeth, as he punched her in the shoulder, it was a hard blow that stung.
"Dand, Dand, Dand help," she screamed again.
Ashara knocked the blade from the man's hand and she jumped at him, but she was knocked to the ground just as Dand rushed in. Horas whinnied and reared knocked the man hard to the ground. Dand grabbed the man firm and put his arms behind his back, as three other soilders came down and helped him.
"Ashara," Dand said helping her up, "Are you ok?"
"I'm fine. Thank you so much," she said hugging him.
She turned to the hooded man and said, "I need to see his face, now!"
The soilders wrestled the hood of the man, who was looking down.
Silver grey hair and old. When he looked up everyone was shocked. The man was Frang McRae, Dand's father. A gasp escaped Ashara's lips.
"Why," Dand said harshly.
"The bitch doesn't deserve to rule or come back to Ariies," he said coldly, spitting venom, "She's a bastard, and aslways will be." He spit into Ashara's face.
"Take him to the keep so we can find him a more permanent place in Ariies," Dand commanded, "And another thing father." He paused and punched him in the face, hard. Frang grunted as the men dragged him to the Keep, which was a dungeon on the ship.
For the entire next day Ashara had either Dand or soilers following her around.
It was half way through the third day when the island of Ariies came into view. It was breathtaking, lush trees, beautiful rolling hills and cliffs, better than what Dand described.
The boat was tied off in the port and Ashara relized she was sweating like a pig in a fire. Her clothes she normally wore in Winterfell were not suited for the warm climate of Ariies.
Dand relized she was overheated so he handed her a pack of water.
"Thank you," she said as she gulped the water down.
"When we get to the castle I'll get the seamstress to make you some dresses," Dand replied.
Horas was brought to her and he was excited to get off the ship and to see Ashara.
The city, Outstuk, was more beautiful than she imagined. There were buildings that were close together, not like Winterfell, and markets bustled with busy people. Two men held the Arii banner as they rode their horses and lead Ashara as she rode on Horas. The banner had a silver serpent onit, like the story she thought, There was a grey and black background on it too.
As she rode down the crowded road Ashara saw many people pointing and talking and whispering. She tried to ignore them and confidently trot by.
The Ariies castle was surrounded by a tall tan sand stone wall, the gates opened and a lush courtyard appeared, people were bustling about but stopped suddenly, some urgently bowed and lowered their heads.
When the bannermen stopped they got off their horses and so did Ashara. Dand came up to her and led her into the castle. She had her bow and sheath of arrows over her back and her sword by her hip.
The castle was magnificent, pretty little things here and here, more luxurious than anything in Winterfell, rich colours and patterns everywhere.
Dand lead Ashara through the castle, and she instantly became lost, how will I navigate the castle, she thought. Suddenly Dand lead her through tall deep wood doors into a throne room. People were lineing the sides of the large long room, when they saw her them all fell to her knees and bowed. And sitting on a gold throne was a man with grey hair in rich red garments, he smiled at Ashara and she couldn't help but smile back. That must be King Cormag Arii, father, she thought.
Dand lead her up a bowed too.
"Good work my boy," Cormag congradulated and stood up from his throne and came over to them.
"My daughter," he breathed and took her into a hug which took Ashara off guard, she akwardly hugged him back.
Cormag then turned to the small crowd and said, "My daughter Ashara Arii the first of her name has returned!"
"Long live the Princess," she heard one man shout and then other joined in all in sync.
"Long live Princess Arii!"
"Long Live the Princess!"
