I cannot help but notice
its not the rejection that hurts the most
its the questions that comes after
"Why won't she accept me?"
"Why did he leave?"
"Am I not good enough?"
"Did I not try hard enough?"
"Was it something I did?"
"Was there something I could have done?"
"Could I have stopped this from happening?"
"Whats wrong with me?"
and then the Despair
that comes next
"She deserved Better"
"I wasn't good enough for him"
"I should have given them everything"
"I should have done more"
"I was too much of a coward to try harder"
"It was all my fault"
Its not the emptiness they leave behind
that hurts us
Its the reason why they left
that causes us to feel so much Pain
