I was your regular teenage girl, loved makeup, cars, clothes and mostly boys.. but I never lived the same life many other girls I knew did.
My father died when I was a kid, I was maybe around 8 years old, we had a beautiful family, I was an only child and my parents loved each other very much. Until the day my father got into a bad car crash coming home from work one night, he died after a few nights in the hospital. My mother went through bad depression which turned her life upside down. (Will smith boys)
"Hannah get the fuck down here right now!" My mother yelled from downstairs. I rolled my eyes and opened my room door heading toward the stairs, knowing I would probably end up getting beaten if I disobeyed her.
"Pack your bags bitch" She says standing up in the living room facing me with her arms crossed.
I was so confused, we definitely weren't going on a trip, that never happened since dad died.
"What's going on? Where am I going?" I ask starting to get a little nervous.
"Your out, and oh there's your ride now, hurry the fuck up" She snaps and goes to open the front door.
I slowly walk back up the stairs and into my room. I can't believe she's doing this to me. I mean she's my mother, yes she is a little fucked up but where am I supposed to live because for sure she never arranged that for me.
I took the largest suitcase from my closet and started filling it with lots of jeans, t shirts, hair brushes, hoodies, socks, undergarments and lots of extra shoes. I ran across the hall and got my toothbrush with a tube of toothpaste as well. I threw in a couple mascaras and hair buckles too. I grabbed my purse on my dresser and put all the money I had, which wasn't very much, in the purse and slapped it around my shoulder.
I walked downstairs with the suitcase and seen my mother talking to a man, who I assume is my ride to wherever I'm going. I never even got to say goodbye to her, she just pushed me along out the door and the man put me into the back seat of an old pick up truck along with my suitcase.
We drove in silence for about an hour, then I started getting curious on where the hell he was taking me.
"Excuse me, could you tell me where I'm going?" I ask trying to stay polite.
There was a long pause, then he replied with 'Tulsa Oklahoma girl'
I threw myself back on the seat and sighed. Oklahoma was going to be my new home, how am I ever going to survive this alone? Although I am 17 I'm not great with common sense, I do not have my license, and I'm not very educated.
After hours and hours of a silent drive, the truck came to a stop, it was dark so I could hardly see where we were and what the town looked like. It seemed very quite, and scary.
"Get out" The man said. Wow he sounded just like my mother. I grabbed the handle of my suitcase and pulled it out of the truck and shut the door, the truck immediately took off and I was left alone on the side of a dirt road with 20 dollars and a suitcase full of shitty clothes.
I walked along the road until I spotted something that looked like a large open space with a few trees scattered around. I walked toward a tall, wide tree and before I got to sit down I tripped over something and cut a huge chunk of my arm out. I sat down next to the tree and started to cry a little. I really couldn't believe I was here, alone.
The wind started to pick up and I started to get a bit chilly, which made me look around for a better shelter for the night. I looked to my left, nothing, then to my right, a strike of fear shot through my body. There was a boy, who looked around 15-16 years old staring directly at me. My eyes almost popped out of my head, my heart was racing and somehow I started to sweat.
I didn't know if I should run or stay, he looked harmless but I don't know how I never noticed him there all this time.He looked away after a couple more seconds of staring, maybe he noticed how frightened I was.
"Hello" I finally said, just loud enough for him to hear. He looked at me again and made a signal for me to come over. I slowly got up and walked toward the boy, I sat down, keeping a bit of distance.
"Who are you" He said looking straight ahead.
"I'm Hannah, who are you?" I answer.
"I'm Johnny, where did you come from? It's not safe being out here alone" He says, still looking forward.
"I got dropped off here, my mother kicked me out from a long ways from here" I say and start to cry a little again.
"Come on, I'll take you back to the house with the others" He says standing up, then helping me up. Maybe he wasn't so scary after all.
We walked down a street to a medium sized house close to a house with lots of screaming coming from the inside.
"Is this your house?" I ask as he opens a gate thats in front of the house.
"No, this is the Curtis's house" He answers and opens the front door.
I walk into the porch and see two boys playing cards at a table, two boys wrestling on the floor, one eating chocolate cake on the floor, and another watching Mickey on tv. When the door shut everyones eyes were on us.
A taller, very muscular boy came towards us.
"Hi Johnny, you have a friend?" The boy says.
"This is Hannah, I met her in the lot just now, her mother sent her here, she got kicked out of her house" He says quietly. " I brought her here so she wouldn't get hurt" He added and walked to the area where Mickey was playing.
"I ah I hope you don't mind, I don't know where I am, it was really cold outside and I was getting scared" I said kinda looking up to see the boys face, he looked more of a man to me.
"Not at all, let me introduce you to the rest, this is Soda and Steve" He points to the two playing cards.
I nodded and smiled, then he continued.
"That is Two-bit, Ponyboy and Dally" He says and points out to the boys sitting around Johnny.
"Oh and I'm Darry" He says. "Stay here as long as you need" He adds and motions me to come into the living room, I guess you could call it that. The other two boys, Steve and Soda come into the living room to join us on the floor and couches.
"Gosh what happened to your arm?" Soda asks sitting next to me on the floor.
"Shit" I whisper. "I tripped up in something" I said looking down at the cut.
"Its pretty deep, let's go take a look at it" Soda says helping me up off the floor and down the hall and into a small bathroom. He tells me to sit up on the counter and take off my sweatshirt.
"Do you own this house?" I ask as he gets some things down from the cabinet by the side of me.
"Yeah I live here with my brothers, Darry and Pony" He replies and smiles. Cute cute cute.
"And your parents?" I asked.
"They both died, in a car accident a few years ago, we've been living here alone, Darry has been taking good care of Pony" He answers.
"Oh sorry to hear, my father died in a car accident too" I say as Soda takes the wet cloth and wipes off all the blood from my arm.
"Sad isn't it" He says and rinses off the cloth. I nod and he rubs something over the cut which made it sting a little. He covers it over with a large bandaid then tells me I'm all set.
"Thank you" I smile and get off the counter.
I think I'm going to like living here.
