Neither of us said a word. We just stared at each other. He almost looked different to me, not by his clothes, he was wearing the jean jacket that I love and a old pair of jeans, but his face, what happened to my Dally?
"I thought you were in New York?" I said looking down at the ground.
"I was, how did you know?" He asked pulling out a cigarette.
"Buck told me yesterday because when we went to get you at the station, they told us you got out a few weeks ago" I said looking back up at him.
"Yesterday? Man I thought it was today" He shook his head.
I shivered and shook my head.
"Come on, let's go home and talk" Dally said taking off his jacket and putting it around my shoulders.
"Thank you" I said quietly.
We walked in silence for a little while. I wasn't mad at Dally, I just didn't know what to say. Thankfully we were really close to the house so that awkward silence didn't have to last long. We went through the gate, up the couple steps and went inside.
"Hey Dal, you're back!" Pony said with excitement.
"Hey man" Dally said giving him a little wink. But his face lit up when he seen Johnny.
"Hey Johnny man" He said still smiling.
"Hey Dal, glad you're back" Johnny said digging his hands into his pocket.
"We'll be out in a minute" I said dragging Dally into mine and Soda's bedroom. We both sat on the unmade bed.
"There's a reason I went to New York" Dally said. "But before I tell you, where were you when I really got out?"
"Buck already told me, and we all went to my moms funeral" I said.
"Jesus" He whispered.
"So why did you go to New York? Buck told me a little"
He sighed then began talking. "I don't like hurting you. Doing all this bad stuff is useless, it isn't doing anything for me"
"Dally I don't want you to change. The bad guy is who I fell in love with. I just want you to stay out of big trouble, like the cooler. I always told myself I wanted you to change but, I can't let you do that" I sighed. I was telling the truth. When I first seen Dally as the bad guy, I fell in love with him, for who he was.
"Really?"
"Yeah Dal" I smiled a little.
Dally grabbed my face and brought me to his, roughly kissing my lips. I missed this. He was the bad guy but he sure was romantic, in a bad boy way. I smiled and blushed when he pulled away.
"I missed you" I whispered. Our foreheads were still touching.
"Me too" He said moving his head back.
I was looking at him for the longest time, thinking about all the good memories, but then I thought of what Soda told me. But he said not to mention it and I said I wouldn't so I never, but when I see him now, I see him as the guy who killed someone.
