After Soda cleaned my arm, we joined the rest of the boys in the living room again. As they were talking I looked around at each of them and realized how hot they were, but one really caught my eye. I remember his name being Dally. He looked really dangerous and I admired that, although he didn't seem to like me being here.
"Hannah, if you don't mind us asking, but where did you get all the bruises?" The boy with the Mickey shirt on, I'm pretty sure his name was Two-bit.
"Not at all, well when I was about eight years old, my father died in a car accident coming home from work one night, my mother went through a rough depression. When I was maybe 15 she started beating me if I disobeyed her, or if my tone wasn't good enough for her, so yeah that's why" I replied.
No one said a word, Pony was looking at Johnny who was looking down at the floor fiddling with his fingers. Did I say something wrong? Soda wrapped his arm around my shoulders and told me that I was going to be safe here with them. That made me smile widely, and realize I'm really glad my mother sent me here.
It was getting late so Two-bit, Steve, and Dally decided to leave for the night. They all gave me hugs before they went out the door, and I giggled when Two-bit tickled my sides.
"Um, can I ask you a question Soda?" I ask sitting on a couch, when Johnny and Pony leave the room.
"Sure anything" He replies getting off the floor and onto the couch next to me.
"What's up with Johnny, he's really quite and when I told that story he seemed upset or something" I ask.
"He gets beaten too, by his mother and also socs" He says.
"Socs?" I ask raising an eyebrow.
"They live on the west side of town, their the rich kids, always trying to cause trouble with us, but don't worry, we will protect you" He smiles.
"Another question?" I giggle and he smiles. Ugh. "Dally, what's he like?"
"Dally is a great guy, you just have to get on his good side, he looks tough and he really is, he could say things that hurt your feelings but do not take it personal, he has his bad days like all of us"
"Thanks" I smile then Pony and Johnny enter the living room again.
"Darry said you could sleep with Soda if you didn't mind sleeping with anyone" Pony says.
So far I did feel most comfortable with Soda, he was a really nice boy. But I'm not sure if he's that comfortable with me. He must have realized that I didn't want to answer so he took my suitcase and my hand and walked me to his room I assume.
"You don't mind do you?" I ask sitting on the edge of the bed.
"Not at all" He smiles. Man he smiled a lot, and it was nice.
"Shit" I say going through my suitcase. "I forgot pyjamas"
"Here you can borrow a pair of mine, they may be a little big but they will do until we find you some new ones" He says and shows me where the bathroom is so I can change.
I was beyond happy about being here. I'm so thankful I spotted Johnny in the lot. The only thing scaring me now is those socs.
I crawled into bed with Soda, who was already half asleep. I didn't even want to talk, I just needed sleep, a sleep where I knew I wouldn't be beaten when I woke up the next morning.
"SODA, PONYBOY" A voice shouted, must have been Darry.
Soda rolled over facing me and said good morning. He jumped out of bed and threw on jeans and a blue blouse like shirt with DX written on the left side, over a white t-shirt. I decided to get ready for the day too. I picked out a blue t-shirt and a pair of boot cut jeans with sneakers. I just realized that the boys had really greasy hair and dirty clothes, but I liked that.
