"Sam." Someone says, shaking me, "Sammy."
"Hmm." I groan.
"Wake up darling."
I turn over opening my eyes to see Gammy sitting by me.
"You finally wake up, gosh your'e a hard sleeper just like your dad." She says, smiling.
I smile a fake smile back, "Yea I know, we don't need an analogy." I say, sitting up.
She slaps my forearm, "Oh don't be such a sour puss, take a joke."
I look up at her and rub my forearm.
"Now, there's pancakes downstairs on the counter waiting for you, I have to take your grandpa to a doctors appointment so, get up now so you don't miss the bus." She says, standing up.
"I don't like riding the bus, I walk." I say, sitting on the edge of the bed.
"Well whatever you do, the point is I don't want you to be late so, get up." She says, walking to my door.
"Yes ma'am." I mumble.
"I love you, have a good day."
"Love you too." I reply, walking to my bathroom, starting to shut the door.
"And hey-" I pause on shutting the door and peak out at her, "stand up for yourself today." She says, with a sad smile.
"Gammy I said don't worry, I'm fine." I say, with a reassuring smile.
She sighs and looks down at the ground, "Okay." She shuts the door quietly.
I close the bathroom door and start my daily morning routine. I brush my teeth, wash my face, use the bathroom, throw my hair into a pony tail and for clothes I throw on my black holed skinny jeans, a red baggy sweater and my black laced up boots.
I grab my bag, and phone and head downstairs.
I quickly eat my pancakes, enjoying a peaceful breakfast and start my walk to school.
I walk into the double doors and down the corridor to my locker, opening it, grabbing my textbooks and slamming it shut.
I jump once I see Jake leaning on the locker next to mine, staring at me.
At look at him confusingly, "Can I, can I help you?"
"What do you mean I'm one of those people?" He ask, starring at me.
I eye him up and down for a few seconds and adjust my bag strap on my shoulder, "Okay, I'm gonna try and ignore the fact that you're acting like a crazy person and ask what the hell are you talking about?"
"Last night, you said I'm one of those people."
"Oh, oh yeah cause you are." I stand up straight.
"What do you mean?"
I sigh and roll my eyes, "For the baseball teams star player you sure are stupid, look do I have to spell it out for you? Huh? What I mean is you're just like them, you act like them, and you treat me the same way they do."
"Bullshit I do not."
I laugh, "Ha but, you do Jake."
"The hell I do!"
"What? Is it so wrong for you to believe that you do treat someone like shit and make them feel worthless? Is that too hard to believe! That the star player is a narcissistic dick face like everybody else in this building?! Huh?! Is it Jake?! Well news flash you're not perfect pretty boy!" I yell, getting in his face.
He stands there staring at me, with his fist balled up.
I look down at his hands and then back up at him as his jaw clenches and unclenches, "Come on hit me. Let's see what everyone will think about the star player being a woman abuser."
"I don't hit girls." He says, through clenched teeth.
"Actions speak louder than words Jake."
"Samantha I don't hit girls." He says, again through clenched teeth.
I place my hand on top of his balled fist and squeeze gently, he relaxes under my touch, "I know you don't, but if you don't unball your fist right now, everyone's gonna have the impression that you do." I whisper in his ear.
"What the literal hell!" An all to familiar voice, yells from beside us.
I back away from Jake and look up at Katie, "I was just leaving." I mumble, walking around Jake.
She grabs onto my shoulder and pulls me back, "The hell you are."
"Katie just let her go." Jake says, with annoyance.
"No. This little bitch had her filthy hands all over you." She glares at me.
"Just let her go." He says, a little louder.
Katie slams me into the lockers by my shoulders, "She's not getting away with it that easily." She says, with an evil grin as she brings her fist up.
I freeze in shock of what's about to happen.
"Katie dammit stop!" Jake yells, grabbing Katie off of me.
I walk past the big crowd and make my way towards first period.
The rest of the day I try to stay away from almost everyone, well Katie and her minions, I grab my stuff out of my locker quickly and head home.
I grab the mail out of the mailbox, walk up the steps and unlock the door.
I go into the kitchen, set my keys on the counter, and look through the mail. I go to set it down when I notice a letter with my name on it.
I open the envelope and pull out the letter,
Samantha, how are you sweetheart? I bet you're so gorgeous just like your mother. Those beautiful green eyes and that long wavy brown hair. Anyways I need you to go to the park tonight, you know the one we would go to when you were little? I know you may not want to see me, I understand. That's why you're going to meet someone else there. You know these people so don't worry, they won't hurt you. Just go tonight at 9:30 and meet them there.
Love, Mathew Anderson.
I gasp and quickly cover my mouth as I feel the tears on the bridge of my eyes, waiting to spill out. If you haven't noticed who this man is, it's my dad.
He abandon me at four years old, left me with my grandparents.
My mom tried to bring him back but she couldn't, she did everything she could to protect me from getting hurt.
One day she left to look for my dad, but never came back.
I push back my tears and swallow, I will not cry over someone so useless. I grab the letter and run up to my room, I shove it in the drawer, take a shower and put on tights and a t-shirt.
I go down stairs, help cook, eat with my family and then around nine I go back up to my room.
I sit on my bed for a minute, contemplating wether I should go or not. After a few minutes I get up, change into some black skinny jeans, a blue top, my black lace up boots and a black jacket.
I quietly open the window and crawl out, I crawl down the tree, hop off, and start my walk to the park.
